  We bring all our fur babies to Crest Hill Cat and Dog clinic. We usually see Dr.Walley and he is gentle, caring and patient. He also listens to you and you are never rushed out of the visit. All of the assistants and front desk staff are kind and very helpful. The facility is always clean inside and out.

  Extremely disappointed with how this was handled I brought my dog to this veterinary office for a routine nail trim. When we arrived, a staff member took him to the back without asking me any questions about him, his temperament, his previous experiences with nail trims, whether he has ever had issues with having his feet handled, or even how he is normally managed. I was given no opportunity to provide information that could have helped them safely handle him. About 15 minutes later, they brought him back out and told me that he had bitten a veterinary technician. None of his nails had been trimmed. I was then told that he would have to undergo a mandatory 10-day rabies observation period. Despite having received his rabies vaccination at this SAME veterinary office on February 6, approximately six months ago, I am being charged $80 for the rabies observation and another $80 for the post-observation visit — $160 total — even though the service I originally brought him in for was never performed. I was also told that he is now required to have a microchip, at an additional cost of $60. So what started as a routine nail trim has now turned into a potential $220 in additional charges, plus two additional trips to the vet. My biggest issue isn’t even the money. It’s the lack of communication and what I feel was a failure to take reasonable precautions BEFORE handling my dog. If you are going to take someone’s dog away from them to perform a procedure involving handling their feet, ASK QUESTIONS FIRST. Ask about the dog’s temperament. Ask about previous nail trims. Ask whether the dog has ever reacted negatively to having their feet handled. Ask the owner how the dog is normally handled. Give the owner an opportunity to explain what works and what doesn’t. None of that happened. I understand that veterinary staff need to protect themselves and that any bite has to be taken seriously. I am not disputing that. What I am extremely unhappy about is the way the situation was approached from the beginning. My dog was taken to the back without any discussion, the service I paid for was not performed, and I was then presented with additional charges and requirements after the fact. Had someone simply taken a few minutes to talk to me BEFORE taking my dog away, I could have provided information about him that may have helped prevent this entire situation. I’ve trusted this veterinary office enough to bring my dog there for his rabies vaccination just six months ago. I expected better communication, better preparation, and better judgment. A routine nail trim should not have turned into this. I am extremely disappointed with how this was handled.

  My cat was sick with constipation and severely backed up stool due to his kidney disease and Dr. Wally knew exactly what to do and explained every detail about what was done to Spooky to relieve his problem and what medication he needed and how to proceed at home with his care. He took his time and was not rushed, and he answered all my questions. I was very impressed. And all the employees there were extremely nice and friendly. I would not go anywhere else!

  In our experience as pet owners for well over 25 years, Dr. Walley is the best vet we have ever had. He has always been extremely compassionate and caring of his patients (and his patients' owners...), and we completely trust his competency and expertise as a veterinarian.
