2 staff working, 1 other customer in the store. Staff cleaning bird cages said I had to wait for other staff to get feeder goldfish, 2 other fish and 2 snails, not a difficult task. After waiting 15 minutes other employee became available and did not seem to have a grasp on how to simply handle 2 dozen gold fish, no joke. They were over handled and packed in a small plastic bag with minimal water, even after I asked for more water. I asked for 2 large Angel Fish to be placed in a large fish or plant bag and the employee grabbed a net too small and caught each fish and had to push the fish out into the plastic fish holders. My daughter even winced each time watching it happen. Again, we asked for more water as each 3" tall fish only had 1" of water above and below them. It did not appear the employee was properly instructed how to handle and package fish. Between the poor handling and time it took to get these fish, we chose not to get the 2 nerite snails.

The young lady working was super helpful and very friendly. Definitely a breath of fresh air these days.

After finding the fish that I wanted to purchase I searched for an employee to help, after seeing one walking toward me in the fish area I asked if she could help, she asked me to repeat myself, then without answering me she proceeded to walk away ( she was going to get the supplies needed but I didn’t know that). She walked to the tank I identified earlier to her a proceeded to retrieve the fish. My wife and I tried small talk with her but she never spoke to us! She did her job well getting the fish, but seemed that she was being “bothered” or “inconvenienced” by my asking if she could help me. Some people it seems shouldn’t have jobs dealing with the public and this employee seemed to be one of them. Employee interactions with prospective buyers should be at minimum pleasant and this one was not, it will affect my regularity at Petco now since There is a PetSmart I may frequent more often just down the road! I don’t mean to be rude but Petco did send me this survey of my visit.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I’m an avid supporter of Petco. I always get my rats from here. Came in to save one today and they told me I couldn’t have it because my 2 three-tier critter nations wasn’t enough room. I told them I had seven rats and I have TWO 3 tier critter nations!!! One is only housing 3 rats and the other one is housing 4 rats! And they said that wasn’t enough room to accommodate another one and wouldn’t let me get the little guy and now when he becomes snake food, I feel bad. But yet they let people take them in literal aquariums, which give them bad respiratory issues! Honestly, so disgusted with this place after today.

They carry extremely low amounts of mid grade food. Mostly very high end and maybe 3 ros of cheapest mid grade maybe 2 types for dogs and cats. Pet Smart has a bigger selection for all levels of budget. The store brand litter is also bad quality. When it comes to their birds I believe they do a great job.
