I would avoid boarding your dog here, especially if they require daily medication to be administered. I cannot speak for the daycare service. In September, I had boarded my dog here and left her medication with instructions (they are chewable tablets that she believes are treats, so not very difficult to administer). When I picked her up and went to give her her medication later that night, I noticed that the same amount of pills were in the bottle as when I dropped her off for boarding -- so she was given none while boarding, which explained her dry skin and constant scratching. We're all human and mistakes happen, though I would have hoped that at least one night someone would not have forgotten to administer it -- but what can ya do. Fast forward to May of this year and my now usual go-to for boarding unfortunately had to close for the weekend for renovations. So I went back to Canine Country Club, this time for a longer stay for my dog. First, when I picked her up, they did not give me her medication bottle back, which I had not noticed until later that night. Went back to pick it up the next day, and again, no medication was administered across the 4 nights of her stay. Twice on the boarding packet that they have you fill out I left the directions "Apoquel -- 1x/day -- they are chewable tablets and my dog thinks they are treats, they can just be given like a treat" in the designated sections for medications and instructions. So, for a sum total of 6 nights across 2 separate stays, no medication was administered. They do typically charge for medication administration, but to their credit I was not charged on either occasion -- maybe because they realized they had forgot? Fortunately, this is not life-or-death medication for my dog, but for someone whose dog's life does depend on medication, this probably isn't where you want to spend your money. Speaking of money: they will nickel-and-dime you for everything. This is NOT the basis for this review, but it is worth noting. I have boarded my dog now in Boston, Charlotte, and West Des Moines. This is the only place I've boarded my dog that charges extra for dog play time/"daycare" with other dogs along with your boarding stay -- the other 5 places I've boarded my dog this comes with your boarding fees (which are the same or cheaper as what Canine Country Club charges for boarding). This is the only place I've boarded my dog that will charge extra for camera access/pictures. This is the only place I've boarded my dog that has charged me separately for a bath ($44.95) and "complete spa day" ($35) -- usually "complete spa day" would include the bath. While these extra charges probably aren't out-of-the-ordinary among industry practices, it is strange to me that out of 6 places I've boarded my dog, 4 of them being on the east coast, this is the only place to do this -- maybe I've just previously gotten lucky. The strangest to me, though, is their policy against returning the food that you bring for your dog. Whatever food remains at the end of your dog's stay does not return with you, which they do make known on their website. It seems from other reviews as if this is for "sanitary reasons," but it also seems as if they explain that this food is then donated? Not sanitary to go home with you, but sanitary enough to be donated? This is not a policy at any place I've ever boarded my dog, nor do I think this is a common industry-norm. Again, costs are NOT the basis for this review, just worth noting. This is not to knock the wonderful people that work at Canine Country Club. Dog kennels are usually understaffed and the staff have to deal with many dogs with a variety of needs -- they deserve all the credit in the world and a whole lot of kudos for what they do. I was willing to look past the forgetfulness of not administering the medication the first time around, but forgetting to do it on the second stay, totaling 6 nights of no medication across 2 stays, I believe was worth bringing up for people who have dogs with more severe medical needs than my own dog's.

Meatball like LOVES his time at Canine Country Club, despite having extreme separation anxiety. The staff treats him like royalty, as he expects nothing less. 😉 I am so grateful to have found them.

I won't be taking my dog back to them. When I dropped my dog off, I did not have an easy feeling about the place. I should have turned around and left. Went to pick up my dog and was told they don't give the food or treats back that being said the treats I get are not cheap they should have mentioned that when I dropped off and told me to leave enough for her stay. I have boarded in a lot of different kennel's and always got back what is left for food and treats. I paid to get updates on her as well as pictures of her while I was out didn't get any of that till I picked her up and got back home pretty sure the pics got taken on the hour, I picked her up. I paid for something I did not receive. Not to mention she did not seem as she normally would when I brought her home. so, not a great rating from me and will not be returning.
