  I was going out of town for a week on Ragbrai but couldn't take my Best four legged buddy. My 3 year old dog Rocket and I have been together every day for 3 years since he was seven weeks old. He is Mama's Good Boy but he has a bad habit of wriggling out of his collar, which scared me since he would have to stay with a sitter for the week. I have tried tons of different styles, made of different materials and the little stinker still manages to escape! So I decided to stop by Petco and ask some advice from the staff what might keep my boy safe while I was out of town. It was pretty busy the evening I stopped in, but I was able to find an employee willing to help me out quite readily. Of course I brought rocket with me, he Loves to go there! He is a total show off so people fuss over him and he adores the attention. Besides, I wanted them to help me fit the collar properly to his neck, if we found a new option. The young lady who helped me was very pleasant, patient and kind and listened to my issue. She was very professional and had some ideas right away. She proceeded to show us examples of several collars throughout the store that she thought could possibly help. But there was one made out of a new material, I hadn't seen before, that she thought would be our best bet. All I remember is it was waterproof and made of a silicone like material. What convinced me was the fact that she took time to tell me that she used a halter made of the same material to train her horse. I asked her if she would help me fit and position the collar properly on Rocket while we were in the store. She politely informed me she wasn't allowed to touch a customer's pet, but would be happy to adjust the collar and instruct me how to put it on him properly. Which she did. I really appreciated her taking that bit of extra time to address my concerns and teach me how to put that new collar on correctly to keep my boy safe. I am happy to report that it did! He has not been able to preform his majical disappearing act even once since he started wearing it! Rocket was very proud of his brand new collar as he wore it in the check out line, showing it off to anyone who would pay him attention and out the door! This kind of care and service will keep Rocket and I coming back to Petco for years to come!

  The variety of items made it almost more difficult to decide, but that’s a great problem to have. The staff was helpful and friendly. I like going here, it is a calmer place.
