  I love this store! All employees are always so helpful and friendly. Added bonus there are cats to baby talk and cuddle if you want <3

  I drove three hours from my rural town for an appointment in Des Moines and planned to swing by Petco for live crickets. There are no live crickets near my residence, so I was relying on this store. Unfortunately, a delayed shipment meant the cricket bin was completely empty. Talk about a total chirp-wreck! Thankfully, the visit wasn't a total flop, and I didn't leave completely flea-ing the scene empty-handed. I scored some phenomenal sale prices on flea and tick medication for my dogs. But let’s be real, the absolute best part about this store is Brandy. She completely saved the entire experience! Her smile is so bright it could power the whole city, and her positive energy is contagious. My toddler was already incredibly antsy after our long drive but Brandy engaged with him beautifully. She patiently pointed out the proper medication and had him do the same through the glass before opening the cabinet, making him feel completely included. She offered him a sticker at the register, and he took it out of her hand and engaged with her—which is a massive deal for him. He is in the "stranger danger" phase. On top of being a toddler whisperer, she was an absolute lifesaver for my schedule. Brandy informed me that all the local stores get their inventory from the same truck which meant nobody else in the area had crickets either. She saved me a plethora of time and endless frustration bouncing around an unfamiliar city looking for bugs that didn't exist! To cap it all off, I needed to update information on my Petco account. Brandy tackled it at the counter effortlessly and efficiently without a single hitch, getting us updated and on our way in no time. Brandy is an absolute rockstar, incredibly helpful, and a great vibe. She is a massive asset to this location and deserves a giant raise for her outstanding customer service! While I am stuck ordering my crickets from Amazon this time, Brandy gave us something to truly chirp about.

  The Staff at Petco on the Southside of Des Moines are always friendly and helpful to me. They have a good selection of dog and cat toys, food, treats and more. I am always happy to visit Petco and leave the store with thank you for visiting.

  This Petco is on Army Post Road. I prefer this location for shopping. They have a large selection of bird food and toys. I bought my black capped conure here. They take good care of the birds. Mine is very healthy and happy.
