So lucky to have such a great emergency vet hospital close by. The staff was kind, helpful and quick to get us into a room. We might have been too hasty to get our dog to a vet but we felt it better to be safe than sorry. Dr Bennett did a thorough exam and put us at ease that he was ok. Given the circumstances, we'd do it again and we would choose Crestview again!

Our experience at Crestview Animal Hospital today was extremely disappointing. We brought our 12-year-old pug to the hospital in the morning because she was having difficulty breathing, wasn’t eating, and had been vomiting. Rather than seeing her immediately, the staff scheduled us for a regular appointment later that day and sent us an email confirmation, it did not state they were scheduling it as an emergency. When we returned for our scheduled appointment, we waited approximately 45 minutes. We then overheard staff discussing our dog and saying the appointment needed to be changed to an emergency appointment because the doctor we were scheduled with said ‘no’ (this is what the front office tech said!). We were then told we might have to wait another 30 minutes to an hour. This made no sense. If our dog truly needed emergency care, why weren’t we told that when we first came in? Why schedule a regular appointment only to change it after we’d already waited nearly an hour? Watching your dog struggle to breathe is terrifying. Clear communication and compassion are the least a pet owner should expect. Instead, we left feeling frustrated and without our dog having been seen. I understand emergencies happen and can disrupt a schedule. What I cannot understand is the lack of communication and the decision to schedule a regular appointment that ultimately wasn’t honored. Either our dog wasn’t truly considered an emergency, or this is how emergency cases are handled. Neither is acceptable. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Crestview Animal Hospital.

Dr. McGruder is, without question, one of the best veterinarians I’ve ever had the privilege of trusting with my pet. His attention to detail is second to none, and it’s clear from the moment you meet him that he genuinely cares about the health and well-being of every animal that comes through his doors. What sets Dr. McGruder apart is his integrity. On multiple occasions, he had every opportunity to recommend additional treatments, keep my cat hospitalized longer, or charge for services that many clinics probably would have. Instead, he always put my cat’s best interests first. He was honest, transparent, and focused solely on what was medically necessary—not on maximizing a bill. His compassion, professionalism, and sincere love for animals are evident in every interaction. He takes the time to explain everything thoroughly, answers questions patiently, and treats both pets and their owners with respect and kindness. In a profession where trust means everything, Dr. McGruder has earned mine completely. The world needs more veterinarians like him—people who combine exceptional medical expertise with genuine compassion and unwavering integrity. I cannot recommend Dr. McGruder highly enough, and I’m incredibly grateful for the outstanding care he’s provided for my cat, Oliver.

Crestview is not what they used to be. They used to care about the community. It is now a money grab. They raise their rates year after year. I brought my dog in for grooming and they said he was overdue for a vaccine and said they could give it since he would be there but would need to charge a visit charge for the doctor to see him. Thats an extra $70 plus the price they charge for vaccine plus the grooming fee. Who can afford to be a pet owner with the prices they charge.

I came home to find one of my cats injured with a wounded leg and struggling to walk. I was easily able to get an emergency appointment on a Sunday and was seen very quickly especially considering there were other emergency patients. From the initial call for the appointment, to the sweet receptionist who checked us in, Dr Steven’s who examined Derby and Jo the vet tech, I have never had such a positive experience with an emergency vet practice. My sweet Derby received excellent care and was released to me the same evening. I cannot say enough how grateful I am for this clinic!! Also, the cost was very reasonable for the treatment she received. I would like to call special attention to Jo who took the time to reassure me about Derby’s condition upon picking her up. She was very kind and compassionate. I’ve had many emergency vet visits over the years and I wouldn’t go any where else after the care we received at Crestview Animal Hospital today. We just moved to the area and I couldn’t recommend them more highly!
