A "comprehensive exam" is meaningless if potentially life-threatening findings aren't communicated to the pet owner.
My pet had a comprehensive exam at the Banfield Acworth location on 05/25/26 by Dr. Rodriguez, and I was told my pet received a full-body examination. What I wasn't told was that the veterinarian had already documented a melanoma/mass in my pet's medical record.
There was no discussion about it. No explanation of what it could be. No recommendation for further diagnostics or referral. No urgency whatsoever.
Because my dog has long fur and the mass was relatively small, I didn't notice it until several days later while closely examining my dog's paw. Concerned, I scheduled an appointment at another Banfield location. Before the veterinarian there even examined my dog, they confirmed the exact location of the mass because it had already been documented in my medical records during the previous visit. That was the moment I learned the first veterinarian had known about it all along.
I cannot understand how a veterinarian can identify a suspected melanoma during a comprehensive exam, document it in the medical record, and then fail to mention it to the owner before they leave the clinic. Even if I had already known it was there, it should have been discussed. That's part of providing competent medical care and allowing owners to make informed decisions.
Instead, I lost valuable time because information that should have been communicated during the appointment never was.
Pet owners pay for comprehensive exams because they trust their veterinarian to identify and communicate important medical findings. Discovering that something as serious as a suspected melanoma was quietly entered into the chart without a single conversation is unacceptable.

My husband and I love the Banfield Acworth location. They have incredible doctors and staff. We have three pups, one who is always anxious at the vet, one who is the vets best friend, and one who is still new to the world and learning what the vet is! With each of them, the staff is patient, loving, and kind. We often visit because our wellness plan allows it, and we love being there! We feel so calm and confident that no matter our concerns or reasons for our visit, the staff knows what to do and how to help. The wellness plan saves us so much, and even what the plan doesn’t cover entirely, the staff is clear to communicate prior to treatment. They make us feel like family! Thank you all for taking such amazing care of our babies!

Took my kitten in to be seen as it was a recent rescue and needed to be examined and given shots. Told the doctor that the kitten had seemed lethargic and weak only to be told that this is normal for some kittens. 2 days later conditions had not improved so i scheduled with another vet. Turns out the kitten had a serious case of fleas, was ghostly pale, and was on the already going into sepsis (which he eventually did). Not only did the Banfield vet fail to spot the fleas, they didn’t say anything about the kittens coloration and insisted all symptoms listed such as lethargy, trouble walking, poor appetite, and more were just normal kitten behaviors. This negligence led to the delayed treatment of my kitten and possible death of my kitten. Pray for me as I wait for results.

We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
