I brought my dog Pinky for a vet visit because of her skin condition with fleas. The staff was very welcoming and fell in love with my dog. The doctor and vet assistants were very professional and patient with my concerns and my dog’s nervousness with her first vet visit at petco. Based on her car ride home I believe we found the best vet for her to come back to😂

I have never written a bad review before but this one is worth my time. I have been to this clinic a few times and I have had a great experience with the vet my dog typically sees. She comes in greets my puppy and makes him feel less scared as he is super anxious at the vet. I had an appointment today and the entire experience was very disappointing and ridiculous. Starting off 5 minutes prior to my appointment in which I am about to arrive to I get a call asking if my dog had taken his sedative medications in which he has only ever had to take once for a specific appointment for an ear infection. I replied no super confused and was told I need to go home give him the medication and come back at 2:30 after they go to lunch as my dog needs to be sedated before his appointment because he’s too anxious. WHY WAS THIS NOT COMMUNICATED HOURS IN ADVANCE IS BEYOND ME, but instead im being told FIVE minutes prior to my appointment. My dog has only ever had to take this medication once in his 5 years of living coincidentally at this vet and had been to multiple vet visits prior to this, so is it that he needs to be sedated or you don’t know how to handle anxious animals which is concerning because every animal is anxious at the vet…. I am extremely frustrated and tell them I’m going to a different vet. Somebody else calls me and tells me to just come in and they will try to treat him. I then arrive and the vet that came in, I have never seen before (dr andy leung) is very standoffish. He does not greet my puppy try to pet him or make him comfortable as he is a STRANGER to my pet. Immediately tried to touch him with a stethoscope and my dog is trying to run away DUH he doesn’t know you and he’s at the vet & you didn’t even try to pet him or have him sniff you before you start touching him with a foreign object?!!!! I try to help by holding my pet and he says “that’s not allowed here, if he bites you you can sue us” which is extremely weird because I have never been told I can’t hold or comfort my pet while being examined. He then says he’s going to take him to the back to see if he’s better not near me, comes back and tells me he’s too anxious and needs to be sedated before they can do any type of work on him which big surprise is going to cost $200 just for them to sedate him and that I would need to come back because he’s going on lunch. I was also told that I could give him apoquel for his allergies and this would help as well. I was going to go ahead with it because my puppy is in pain and they said it was mainly to treat his hot spot, but the entire interaction was so off putting I didn’t feel comfortable with my puppy being in his care at this point so I called and said I would just like to pick up his apoquel and I would not like to proceed with sedating him I will take him elsewhere to take care of his hot spot. The tech reaches back out to me and tells me the vet is no longer going to write a script for me to get his apoquel unless I allow him to clean up his hot spot requiring the sedation. In basic terms denying any further treatment for my dog unless I go ahead with the sedation because he won’t do any work without it and can’t even give me his allergy medication unless I allow this???????? I’m not sure as to why someone would become a vet if they can’t work with anxious animals and let alone know how to approach or greet them to make them feel more comfortable for starters and on top of that you should feel ashamed of yourself trying to just make money off of me and denying his allergy meds so I can pay you more money to put him to sleep. I will never go to this doctor again. Worst experience ever!

We had a really bad experience! We just wanted to do a rabies vaccine for my French bulldog. First of all they wanted to charge us an exam fee plus rabies Tag, which nobody needs and the best part is that they even refused to do a service because we said no to all their up charges ( they were offering a “good owner” vaccine package for $400) and since the bill was so small, they just said no, and came up with with an excuse. P.S. We went to Tampa Palms Animal Hospital and did the vaccination for $44 without any exam fees and unreasonable charges.
