The employees were above standard in helpful friendly service but some of the items I wanted they were out of stock and have to go back to see when and if they get it

If I could leave 0 stars I would this is ridiculous, the first 2 photos are a baddie that I got from them and had him since he was tiny. He did get aggressive BUT you can tell he’s very well taken care of so for them to put on his story that I could “no longer care for him” that was a lie. He got greens and meal worms everyday and his tank was always clean he was only aggressive when you directly tried to touch him. But otherwise very well cared for. After I surrendered him they gave me the baddie in the 3rd and 4th photos and I didn’t do anything different but something wasn’t right from the start, she was super skinny, didn’t want to eat, and her eyes ended up being stuck closed 24 hours after I brought her home, she didn’t move around much and ultimately passed way today due to not having any eyes to be able to see to eat. I WILL NOT BE SUPPORTING THIS STORE ANYMORE!!! To sit here and claim I want taking care of a bearded dragon (petri) when he clearly was and then turn around and give me a stick and defective one and not care enough to acknowledge it or make it right is absolutely disgusting. This store is a joke.

Absolutely the worst place I’ve ever been to ever in my life for an animal. What an absolute awful experience for not only myself and my family but the animal they were suppose to take care of. In no way should a 20 year old kid that has zero skill in grooming ever be responsible for grooming a Goldendoodle. Our dog was hacked and and butchered by these people that work here. They knew of the mats beforehand and if they couldn’t handle them that we had a licensed professional groomer that would do the grooming of our dog. Instead this employee starts digging deep into our puppy making her skin get red and irritated and tells us they can’t do anymore. There is no clean up, no care, nothing more done. This is the worst experience anyone could ever have ever. There will be further action coming but beware of this place and many other Petco around here. Corporate disaster of a business that only care about the money.
Update: 01 August 2026
GM called, incredibly rude and doesn’t care about your animals at all. What we had to spend yesterday and the trauma you caused our dog, this is going to corporate. They tell you at Petco you can’t talk to corporate but I found the numbers and actual people that will handle this. Monday can’t get here soon enough. This will only be elevated to more and more resources. The GM is threatening and thinks he can talk a way that disrespects a customer. Remember you work for Petco and you represent the company….i as the customer will talk and tell you what happened. You don’t get to tell me what I will do. This will proceed to corporate and to every network I have. Don’t go to Petco!!!

I came in and went to see the animals and the beared dragons where unhealthy and so were the geckos. The cages were the wrong temperature and if you know about bearded dragons, you know that they don’t usually sleep throughout the day and are not supposed to have low eyes which can mean they’re sick or dehydrated and every single one I saw was like the Geckos were the same way :(((

Every time we go to PetCo (or Petsmart, but that's been a while because it's further away), we leave so depressed about the condition of the animals there. The gerbils and hamsters look like they are shutting down or half-dead (and not because they are sleeping), the mice have tumors, the fish (don't even get me started). Nothing is thriving and they just languish and suffer in their way-too-tiny cages with no enrichment or meaningful interaction. I really wish these big box pet stores would just stick to supplies and leave the live animals to people who actually care about them. I'll snap some photos next time if I can force myself to go back, but my advice would be to go somewhere smaller and local, and/or adopt your new furry, shelled, scaled or feathered friend from a rescue or a local special interest group on Facebook. :(
