Banfield Pet Hospital
7777 Dr Martin Luther King St N, Saint Petersburg, FL
On Monday, August 24, 2026, at 8:41 a.m., I called Banfield to request an emergency appointment for my pet. I spoke with a representative whose first name began with "D," who scheduled the appointment for Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. I already had a separate, previously scheduled physical exam for my pet on September 4, 2026, and made clear that this new call was for an urgent, unrelated concern.
On the morning of August 28, I called again to confirm the appointment and to let the office know I would be bringing in a stool sample for testing. I explained that my pet's physical was scheduled for the following week (September 4), but that I had an emergency appointment today. The receptionist did not ask for my name or phone number, though she may have recognized my information through caller ID.
When my husband and I arrived at 11:00 a.m., a staff member named Dawn informed us that we had no appointment at that time, and that our only appointment on file was the online booking for September 4. I explained the situation, but the receptionist grew irate and continued to insist we had no appointment. We asked to speak with Dr. Waechter directly to resolve the confusion, but she did not come out to speak with us at any point. We drive 45-minutes to get to Banfield in St. Petersburg. Dr. Waechter is aware of this. I would not drive 45-minutes, if I did not have an appointment!!
As a result:
• My pet did not receive the care she needed that day.
• We were treated dismissively and were not given the opportunity to speak with the veterinarian.
• No staff member took ownership of the scheduling error, despite my attempt to confirm the appointment by phone that same morning.
I have been a loyal Banfield client for approximately 11 years, and this is the first time I have experienced this level of disorganization and disregard for a client's concerns. Given this experience, I am canceling my Banfield Wellness Plan membership, effective immediately, and will not be returning as a client.

My baby had a pancreatic attack, and I was able to book a next-day visit with Dr. Ivan. All the recommended medications helped my pup bounce back almost immediately. She recommended a new injectable medication specifically for pancreatic attacks, and it worked right away. I didn’t feel any pressure for extra tests or unnecessary prescription, just focused, effective care. Highly recommend this veterinarian for your furry family member!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at Banfield Pet Hospital. My German Shepherd, Meeko, is very reactive to other dogs and extremely anxious at the vet. Because of that, vet visits have always been incredibly stressful for both of us. Meeko will be six this year, and this was the first truly positive vet experience we’ve ever had.
From the moment we arrived, the vet and staff were so patient, kind, and understanding. The vet really listened to me and took the time to understand Meeko’s personality and his fears. Instead of being intimidated by him, she worked with him at his pace and handled him with so much calm confidence and compassion.
They took time to give him treats, love on him, and let him get comfortable before jumping into the exam. That alone made such a huge difference for him. By the end of the visit, I was honestly almost in tears because I was so relieved and grateful that we finally had such a positive experience.
We even returned for a follow-up visit, and the same kindness and patience were there again. It wasn’t just a one-time thing — it’s clearly the way they treat their patients.
For the first time in Meeko’s life, I feel like I have a vet clinic where I don’t have to be a nervous wreck bringing him in. That means the world to me. Thank you for treating my sweet (and sometimes nervous) boy with such care and compassion.

I have been taking my fur babies to Banfield for many years and no matter where I’ve moved to in the US they’ve not only been close by but have provided me and my family with consistent and reliable care. I won’t go anywhere else. Thank you for a superior office exam for my babies yesterday. I really appreciate you and what you do.
