- GTG TJul 20, 20261.0I am extremely disappointed with the service at Banfield Pet Hospital in Plantation. My cat has been diabetic for the past seven years and has been on the same treatment regimen with no significant changes. One of the main reasons I chose Banfield was because I was told that prescription refills would be valid for one year, which seemed reasonable for a pet with a stable, chronic condition. Recently, I ordered my cat’s prescription food and insulin refill, only to find out that the prescription had been declined. When I called the clinic, I was told that my cat needed to come in for a glucose curve before they would authorize the refill, even though it has been less than a year since the last evaluation. The front desk staff told me they would speak with the doctor and call me back the next day to let me know if the refill could be approved. That call never came. Instead, I had to repeatedly call the clinic myself, only to be placed on hold for 8, 15, and even more minutes at a time before eventually leaving voicemails that were never returned. This level of communication is completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Delaying insulin refills for a diabetic cat is not a minor inconvenience—it can seriously impact a pet’s health. If the clinic’s policy is to require follow-up testing before the one-year mark, that should be clearly communicated in advance so pet owners can plan accordingly, rather than finding out only after a prescription is denied. I would definitely bring my cat for glucose check but now I really have hesitation about the level of communication I received. I expected much better communication and customer service. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me to lose confidence in this clinic.

The receptionist brings my dog back, and reports that the Vet cannot see my dog bc she is allergic to Shar Pei's but she can instruct the nurse to do everything. Why would I pay Vet prices to have a Nurse treat my dog????

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
