Dr. Borecky, the renowned cat whisperer, is highly recommended for your feline friend. Although we had a less than satisfactory experience with our initial visit to another location, Dr. Borecky made up for it tenfold.

Please avoid seeing Ajiona Lunsford based on my personal experience.
I'm writing this review so others can protect themselves from staff members who appear more focused on upselling than on genuinely helping your pet.
About a year ago, I enrolled my dog in Banfield's insurance plan. Overall, I believe it can be a worthwhile investment when used correctly, and some locations are better than others. This Palm Harbor location had actually been among the better ones, and I had fully intended to renew and continue coming here exclusively. After today's visit, I will not be returning to Banfield at all.
Recently, my dog had a lump removed while already under anesthesia for a routine teeth cleaning. I paid extra for the removal, which I expected, and the experience itself was excellent. The vet and staff member I saw were outstanding, honest about what was medically necessary versus merely recommended, and they even suggested affordable Amazon alternatives for certain products.
Upon checkout, I was told to return for stitch removal. When I mentioned that my humane society typically removes stitches at no charge, they told me that this follow-up was included with the surgery and would be a quick, no-cost visit.
When I returned today and saw a different provider, my experience changed completely.
I was told my dog urgently needed the Lepto vaccine because it would be fatal if he didn't receive it. I explained that my dog already had a vaccine with Lepto coverage, making it unnecessary. Ajiona told me outright, "There's no vaccine that covers Lepto except Lepto. If you don't get it, it's gonna be fatal and kill you too." I should have left at that point, recognizing she did not have accurate information, but I stayed.
Before anything was done, I was informed there would be a $55 charge simply to be seen. I explained that I had been previously told this visit was stitch removal only and was included with the surgery. Ajiona told me I was paying to stand in the same room as her and have my dog looked at.
Because I was already there, I reached out to my partner to send money, feeling I had no other option.
When she returned, I was told my dog needed ointment for the surgical site at an additional $33. I said I preferred to monitor the area and purchase something later if needed. She insisted it was necessary or he'd get infected, and when I asked whether the ointment was truly mandatory, she confirmed it was, but added that if I couldn't afford it, my dog would simply have to "risk it."
Once again, I had to ask my partner for money we honestly did not have.
After she brought my dog back, I asked whether his ear infection had resolved, since he had recently been treated for it, and whether the lump had been fully removed. I was told that the $55 exam I had just paid for did not cover those questions and that she couldn't tell me.
My dog had a complete workup only three weeks prior, before surgery. He did not need another one. I came in expecting stitch removal and left having paid nearly $100 with no answers about his infection or the surgical site.
After leaving, I called my humane society in tears because I was genuinely frightened something would happen to my dog if I skipped the vaccine or applied the ointment incorrectly. They reassured me that a slightly open surgical site would not require ointment as long as it was kept clean. They also confirmed that my dog already had Lepto coverage through his DAPPL vaccine and was fine.
Please ask questions and advocate for yourself before agreeing to any additional services. I cannot recover the money I spent, but I hope sharing this prevents someone else from leaving the way I did.
To the staff at this location: I understand this is a he said, she said situation, and I am not requesting a refund. I simply ask that you make more thoughtful hiring decisions going forward. Our pets matter deeply to us, and we deserve to leave feeling informed and respected, not manipulated. Many of you are genuinely wonderful, but after today, I will not be returning, and neither will anyone I refer.

You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
