Recent Visit at the Mills location: I brought my dog in for a 4:00 PM appointment for a skin issue on her leg. I was brought back immediately, only to sit for 30 minutes because there wasn’t a working computer in the room. Once moved to a second room, the tech couldn’t find my chart and spent about 15 minutes trying to sort out my wellness plan—which has been on auto-renew for over four years with no prior issues. Meanwhile, my dog still hadn’t been seen for the reason we came in. After waiting 45 minutes past my appointment time, I was told the doctor was now tied up with another animal and couldn't give me a guaranteed wait time. Completely unacceptable communication and organization. Previous Visit (Casselberry Location - 4 months prior): When my dog had an incident involving a raccoon and needed a rabies booster, the vet was visibly judgmental about her being 5 months behind on the vaccine. Instead of focusing on reassurance, she went out of her way to deliver terrifying and unnecessarily graphic commentary-specifically detailing that if the booster didn't work and symptoms developed, they would have to put my dog down and "cut her head off" to test for it. Delivering that kind of gruesome imagery to a panicked pet owner is deeply unprofessional and cold. Between the administrative incompetence at Mills and the lack of basic bedside manner in Casselberry, I am seriously questioning whether to keep my banfield wellness plan.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
• Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
