  I have been a customer of this veterinary clinic for many years and have always appreciated the staff\. Unfortunately, my recent experience was deeply upsetting and has changed the way I feel about returning\. My 10\-year\-old French bulldog, Lola, had been declining for quite some time and had been dealing with multiple health issues over the past two years\. As a pet parent who has had dogs with cancer before, I recognized many of the signs\. After several emergency vet visits and watching her quality of life continue to decline, I made the very difficult decision that it may be time to let her go peacefully\. Because this clinic had cared for Lola since she was a puppy, I wanted them to be the ones to help us through that final moment\. I scheduled the appointment, and while the room was set up respectfully, my interaction with Dr\. Minnich was extremely painful\. Instead of being met with compassion, I felt questioned and judged about my intentions\. His comments made me feel as though he believed I simply wanted to euthanize my dog because she was old, which could not have been further from the truth\. Honestly, the transaction felt a little slimy as if he was upset that I didn’t want to do further tests to try to figure out what was going on with her and just dismissed me. Dr Minnich didn’t have the right to make that decision for me. I tried to explain everything Lola had been going through, but I left that appointment feeling like a terrible pet parent and wondering if I had made the wrong decision\. Sadly, the following weekend Lola became very sick, and I had to take her to an emergency vet\. As I had feared, she had cancer\. I then had to say goodbye to her at an unfamiliar clinic, which was not what I wanted for her or for myself\. Losing a beloved pet is already heartbreaking\. Coming to terms with the decision to stop further testing, pain, and suffering is one of the hardest choices a pet owner can make\. To be made to feel judged or shamed during that process was unacceptable and honestly one of the most painful experiences I have ever had\. I want to be clear that the staff has always been kind and wonderful, and that makes this even more disappointing\. However, because of Dr\. Minnich’s attitude and bedside manner, I will not be returning to this clinic\. I knew my Lola, and I knew I was trying to do what was best for her\. No grieving pet owner should ever be made to feel otherwise\. RIP my sweet girl 💔

  I recently relocated to Florida from North Carolina. With so many reviews floating around social media, it was hard to choose a vet for my dog. After having a bad experience in Punta Gorda, Toledo blade did not disappoint. When I called to schedule an appointment, the receptionist was polite & warm. You do have to provide a deposit for appointments, but it goes directly towards your bill. The Veterinarian who cared for my dog during his visit was excellent. He provided me with more information & knowledge than any other vet I’ve seen in the past. He truly listened to my concerns, provided a solution, all while educating me. After my french bulldog started his meds, he’s been bouncing around like he did when he was a puppy. ❤️ The vet tech was also kind and informative. The prices here are extremely fair. They even called to follow up with my pup to see how he was feeling after our appointment. (This never happens). Prescription process was easy. They sent me a link to their online pharmacy. After purchasing my dogs medication, the pharmacy contacts the vet for approval & sends your meds to your address. Not once did I feel coached to purchase unnecessary testing or have unnecessary procedures done. This place did everything but drain my money. Please don’t listen to any negative reviews. Try them for yourself. 🫶

  I am so very grateful for this vet! My kitty got outside and was injured pretty bad. They got him an emergency visit the same day I called. Everyone from the front desk, to the vet assistants, especially Dr Lauren were kind and very helpful. I was so worried I wasn’t going to be able to afford to help my kitty based on previous vet experiences but all fees were fair, and they did not push anything on me, only doing necessary procedures. Thank you Toledo Blade Animal Clinic for your help with my Mooney cat! I will recommend this vet to everyone.

  After being a loyal client of Toledo Animal Hospital in North Port , Fl for seven years, I never expected to be treated with such disrespect and complete lack of compassion. I arrived 13 minutes late to my dog’s appointment because I had to wait for a caregiver to arrive and take over the care of a disabled family member. This was not a matter of poor planning or carelessness—it was a family responsibility that was beyond my control. Instead of being met with understanding, the receptionist immediately told me I would have to reschedule because I was 13 minutes late. Her tone was rude and dismissive, and there was absolutely no empathy for my situation. What made the experience even more upsetting was that another client generously offered to give me her appointment time. The receptionist refused, saying the veterinarian was already running behind schedule. If the doctor was already behind, I don’t understand why there wasn’t any flexibility for a loyal client facing an unexpected caregiving situation. I asked to speak with the manager, hoping she would handle the situation more professionally. Unfortunately, she was even less helpful. Rather than listening or trying to resolve the issue, she was defensive, dismissive, and showed no interest in finding a solution. Her attitude turned an unfortunate situation into a terrible customer service experience. Policies are important, but compassion and professionalism matter just as much—especially in a veterinary practice where clients are often dealing with stressful situations. After seven years as a loyal customer, I left feeling disrespected and unappreciated. Sadly, I can no longer recommend Toledo Animal Hospital based on the way I was treated. I hope the owners review how patients and their families are treated and invest in better customer service and empathy training for their front office and management.
