  We were fortunate to get an appointment with Dr. Trayn Overton for our dog, who had been diagnosed with a corneal ulcer that was not responding to treatment from our primary veterinarian. Seeking a second opinion from a veterinary ophthalmologist, we were hopeful after the exam. Dr. Overton performed a procedure and prescribed new medications, and we left feeling optimistic about our dog's care. Unfortunately, the experience quickly deteriorated when we had follow-up questions regarding which medications should be continued and which should be discontinued. We called before the office's stated closing time and received no answer. We called again the following morning and left a voicemail. Several hours later, we called a third time, left another voicemail, and still received no response. When dealing with a serious eye condition, timely communication is not a luxury—it's an essential part of patient care. Pet owners should not be left guessing about medication protocols or wondering whether their concerns are being heard. Dr. Overton may be clinically excellent, but the lack of responsiveness from the office was extremely disappointing. For a specialty practice, I expected significantly better follow-up and communication. Based on our experience, I would rate the medical care positively, but the customer service and accessibility were a 0 out of 10. UPDATE: After posting this review, Dr. Overton personally reached out to me and thoroughly reviewed the communication timeline. It appears there was a disconnect in communication, and while I did eventually receive the answer regarding my dog's medication, there was enough phone tag and missed connections that I believed my question had gone unanswered. I still believe the initial communication process could be improved, particularly when pet owners are dealing with urgent ophthalmic issues and medication questions. However, I greatly appreciate Dr. Overton's professionalism, her willingness to investigate the situation, and her personal follow-up. That level of accountability is rare and deserves recognition. Most importantly, I have been very pleased with the medical care my dog has received, and we look forward to seeing Dr. Overton again for his recheck.

  Swinger and Overton are amazing doctors. Saved my dogs eye without immediately resorting to surgery.

  Got a call today to inform me they did not approve my dogs eye medication after cataract surgery, she will be on this medication for the rest of her life. Their Fort Myers location has closed, so now their nearest location to me is Naples, which would be about a 250 mile round-trip for just an exam. Gave me no warning they would not renew prescription, knowing she has to have this medication. That was not nice... Have to scramble to find another doctor for prescription.

  We have a 13 1/2 year-old Shih Tzu. She has been diabetic for 2 1/2 years and about a year after becoming diabetic went blind. We live in Michigan so I’ve had most of her care in Michigan and at OSU, but she had a lens replacement and then subsequently lost one of her eyes due to infection. The few times we have been in Naples with her we have had to see an eye specialist and found Dr. Overton. Dr. Overton has been amazing to work with. Our poor little dog continues to have corneal dysfunction in her remaining eye but Dr. Overton has helped us very much in managing her eye health. She is thoughtful, kind, and clear with her instructions. She thoroughly considered our dog’s history. I highly recommend her.
