- SDSean DotyNov 4, 20223.0The vet techs are nice and most of the doctors here are good with diagnosing whatever health issues our pets are dealing with (outside of torn ligaments). The main issue I have with Banfield is with their communication skils, or lack thereof. If you make an appointment with them to bring your pet in, you have to be very specific that you want to visit with the doctor in a exam room at that time. Otherwise they will assume you want to do a drop-off appointment and can wind up having your pet from anywhere between 2 and 5 hours, even for something as simple as vaccination shots. We also have started ordering our flea and heartworm prevention from Banfield's pharmacy, as they offer discounts for those whose pets are enrolled in their Healthcare plans. However, the communication between the pharmacy and veterinary office is lacking BIG TIME, as we placed our recent order over a week ago and Banfield's pharmacy advised they are still waiting confirmation from this local vet office. We have trusted Banfield with the care of our pets for the last several years and have paid a good amount of money monthly to enroll our dogs into the Healthcare plans they offer. But if this lack of communication continues much further, we may need to start venturing for a new veterinary office.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
