Colbie our French bulldog had been in a car accident and the whole team could not have been more attentive or helpful. They were excellent at tending to him in an emergency situation.

I cannot thank the team at Banfield enough for the incredible care they gave my dog, Maui. He was dealing with ear infection, and they did an amazing job diagnosing it quickly and getting him on the right treatment plan! Thank you again! 🐶

All of the front desk staff that I talked to were so sweet and helpful. I brought my cat here after she was diagnosed with CKD at the shelter to get some information about how to administer fluids at home. I needed guidance on how much to administer and how often based on her levels.
When I was talking to the vet tech, I felt like I wasn’t being listened to and she was just checking off boxes. She asked the same questions multiple times I’d already given her answers to and spent most of the time trying to push me to do tests/vaccines/boosters than listening to the medical issues I was most concerned about. I felt like once they realized I wasn’t going to drop 100s on tests she already had done at the shelter, it became a rush to get me out. They did the exam in the back (only place I’ve not been in the room for the physical) and then the vet came in and showed me how to do the fluids and said “if you’re confused, just look it up on YouTube”.
I was asking questions about how much/often to give fluids and her answers weren’t comforting at all. She told me I could give 100-150mL every 1-2 weeks, and just if I “feel like it’s enough” then don’t give her more. My cat has stage 3 CKD. There are people who give that amount of fluids daily based on their levels.
Maybe it’s a better vet if you come in willing to drop a ton of money. But otherwise, you’re just another person they’re trying to get out as quick as possible. Not to mention their office visit is as much as going to a much more reputable vet.

I am concerned that Banfield tried to sell me SANOS dental sealant for both of my dogs for reasons that do not seem appropriate.
For my first dog, I was told the product was recommended because of a cavity. While I was researching the product, I received a call about my second dog and was told the same product was recommended because of periodontal disease.
After looking into SANOS dental sealant, I found that it is intended to help prevent plaque and tartar buildup, not treat cavities, periodontal disease, or enamel erosion. When I questioned the recommendation, the technician told me she did not know much about the product and that I would need to speak with the veterinarian. The veterinarian then stated that my dog did not have a cavity but had enamel erosion instead, which is also not a condition this product is designed to treat.
It concerns me that the same $160 product was recommended for different dental conditions that it does not appear to treat. This felt more like an upsell than a medically necessary recommendation, and I believe pet owners should be given accurate information before being asked to pay for additional services.
Frequently Asked Questions About Banfield Pet Hospital
Does Banfield provide emergency care services?
No, but you can call us during hospital hours for urgent care advice. Depending on the situation, we can help provide a referral for urgent care, specialty providers, or to an emergency hospital. During non-hospital hours, please contact your local emergency hospital.
Can I get veterinary care online?
To help pets and their people stay healthy, Banfield clients who have Optimum Wellness Plans® can get remote general pet care advice and triage support directly from a veterinarian 24/7 through Vet Chat™ on the Banfield app.
What preventive pet health care services does Banfield offer?
We believe that preventive care is the most effective way to keep your pet healthy throughout all stages of life. Our pet hospitals offer many preventive care treatments, including:
• Vaccinations
• Dental Care

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
• Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
