I brought Butterpup in for treatment of a severe ear infection, and initially I was very impressed with the customer service from the staff. Everyone I interacted with was approachable, kind, and professional, and I truly appreciated the care and friendliness they showed throughout the visit. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Shelton was very disappointing. During our conversation, she often seemed irritated and impatient whenever I asked questions about my pet’s condition or treatment. She spoke very quickly, which left me confused at times, and when I tried to get clarification, her tone came across as dismissive and aggressive rather than supportive or understanding. Another issue that bothered me was that she repeatedly referred to my dog as “she,” even after I politely corrected her and explained that Butterpup is a “he.” Instead of respectfully acknowledging the correction, the response felt dismissive, and she continued using the wrong pronouns throughout the conversation. It made me feel like my concerns and comments were not being taken seriously. I also felt uncomfortable with how strongly additional products and treatments were pushed during the visit. Even with a wellness plan, I still had to pay nearly $200 out of pocket because ear infections were not covered. I was then encouraged to purchase additional cleaners and allergy medications, even after explaining that it was not within my budget and that I can manage his allergies with Benadryl when needed. On top of that, the quote I was given over the phone was different from the total I was presented with once I arrived. Overall, it started to feel like every interaction was just another attempt to upsell me. The experience felt more like a pressure sale than a supportive veterinary visit, and I really disliked that feeling. While I have nothing but positive things to say about the staff, my interaction with the doctor left such a negative impression that I ultimately decided to discontinue my wellness plan and look elsewhere for veterinary care not to mention, the actual cancellation policy is another way to get more money from you. Easy to get in but hard and expensive to get out. I truly wish I could give a 5-star review for the staff because they were kind, professional, and welcoming throughout the visit. However, since this review is also based on my experience with the doctor overseeing the appointment, that is the reason for my low rating.

Dr Shelton and the techs were very helpful and answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns. My Gabby girl was extremely nervous and so was I, but they put both our nerves at ease and I appreciate them for that.

As a dog owner who has used Banfield (PetSmart), I can confidently say I am done with them. This is the third or fourth time we’ve been burned, and I honestly don’t know why I kept giving them my money. If you’re considering pet insurance or wellness plans, I strongly recommend not wasting your money with Banfield. Their standard plans only cover the absolute basics—routine visits, flea, tick, and worm prevention. Beyond that, everything costs extra. There’s nothing special or comprehensive about their coverage, and you end up paying out of pocket constantly unless you keep upgrading and paying more and more. An X-ray costing $500 is outrageous. For comparison, a human X-ray with insurance might cost $25–$75 with a copay. Banfield’s pricing simply doesn’t make sense, and it feels like every interaction is just another push to upsell you. What’s even worse is their contract structure. You can upgrade your plan anytime, but if you need to downgrade or cancel, suddenly you can’t. Even if your dog passes away, you’re still required to pay for the plan until the annual contract ends. I know this firsthand—I had to continue paying for my first dog for seven months after she died. They do not care. The cheapest plan is around $66 a month, and it barely covers anything. Nail trims alone can cost $25. At that point, you’re better off doing it yourself or finding a different provider. Bottom line: Banfield is not worth your time or your money. Find another vet or insurance provider who actually offers value and compassion—because Banfield does not.

I have been trying to give this location a chance for 3 years the turn over is insane. The front desk staff is nice but not a fan of the doctors who hardly interact with you. I have been going to a banfield for over 10 years. I guess i was just spoiled at the other locations i have tried. If i can't cancel my ins. plan I'm going to try the one off of Wells Road. Update: I just tried the Wells Road location. I will gladly pass this location and drive 20 minutes. They were great!
