After going to chain veterinary clinics like Banfield, I felt like my pets and I weren’t receiving the level of care and compassion we deserved. Deciding to switch to Aloha was one of the best decisions I’ve made.
Every visit has been a great experience. The front desk staff and veterinary nurses are always welcoming, kind, and professional. Dr. Pepen is an exceptional veterinarian. He takes the time to explain everything thoroughly, answers all of our questions and concerns, and discusses every treatment option so we can make informed decisions.
Most importantly, I truly feel that Dr. Pepen genuinely cares about my pet’s well-being. That level of compassion and dedication is hard to find, and it gives me complete confidence in trusting him with my pets’ care. I honestly have nothing negative to say about this office and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary team that truly puts animals first.

Today is our beloved dog's 1st year death anniversary. He died under the care of Aloha Pet and Bird Hospital.
We were told that his CHF was not that bad after they took the X-ray,but he will be given Lasix IV as diuretic, keep him overnight and should be discharged the next day on oral Lasix and continue his routine meds. We dropped him off about noon time. His Vet doctor seemed to be very thorough and I trusted her assessment and plan of care.
Visited him around 6pm and he looked sedated and did not want to eat. We were told that he had his 1st dose of Lasix. He looked sedated. When we asked, we were told that they had to give him sedative because he got agitated and had torn his diaper. We told the staff that he never wears diaper, and he always go outside to pee. We left his food to the staff and let him rest.
We called around 1030pm and they said that he was doing ok and had peed outside. At around 11-1130 p they called us and said that he was crashing and to come quickly. He was having shortness of breath when we got there, but seemed like he was still trying to reach out to us when we got there. We were so devastated! When I asked about the sedative depressing his respiratory center, he said "just a little bit". Also, remembered/ noted that his new meds ( Lasix, nitroglycerin patch, sedative) plus his routine heart meds could affect and drop his blood pressure.
He finally passed away that night.
When I reviewed the chart ( I asked to send me his chart) , noted that the documentation showed 3 doses of a potent sedative within 9 hours that he was there. The vet's order that I saw was to give every 12 hours as needed.
I spoke with the admitting Vet and said that she was also surprised since he was stable when he left that afternoon. A head staff called a few days later and said it would be too hard to talk with those present that night to find out what actually happened or what actually was given. I remember that his regular Vet used to tell us not to give him any sedative even mild one because it will harm him and may die from it because of his heart murmur.
I don't really know who regulates these Vet clinics and how do we know if our beloved pets are getting the best care esp when we leave them overnight.
I just know that he was a part of our family and we miss him so much!
I just hope that these animal clinics' staff remember that we trust them with our pets, and that to us they are not just pets but beloved members of our families.
