I have been a customer of the Fort Myers Petco for quite some time and have visited this location multiple times with my medical service dog, Dexter. During my most recent visit, Dexter was wearing his clearly marked service dog vest and was calmly performing his job. He was not barking, wandering, or causing any disruption. He remained focused on me and under my control at all times. A manager approached me and stated that store policy requires all dogs to be on a leash. I respectfully explained that Dexter is a trained service dog and that, when a leash interferes with his work, federal ADA guidelines allow a service dog to work without one, provided the dog remains under the handler’s control. Dexter was under voice control throughout our visit. Rather than trying to understand the situation, I was told that it was simply store policy and that the manager would have to come back to speak with me. The interaction made me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable enough that I chose to leave the store without making the purchases I had intended. I understand that employees are trying to keep the store safe, and I appreciate that. However, I hope Petco provides additional training regarding the rights of customers accompanied by legitimate service dogs under the ADA so that other disabled customers do not have a similar experience. I hope this feedback is taken as an opportunity to improve customer service and staff education. I would be happy to return to this location if I knew service dog handlers would be treated with a better understanding of the law and with greater respect.

I want to understand if it is the Petco policy to refer a customer out of your grooming department if a customer lodges a complaint about being ignored while waiting to be acknowledged. I was at the Petco at your locations waited over 15 minutes for a grooming appointment and no one acknowledged me. When the cashier (Shay) became available, I asked her if she could let someone know I was waiting and her response was "there is nothing I can do for you". When someone finally came to take my dog who was a very nice young lady, I asked if she could get me a manager to speak with. When the manager (Isabelle) came to speak with me she did not seem very interested in my concern or interested in addressing Shay's response to my request for assistance. If that wasn't enough the next time I called to schedule appointment I learned that I had been referred out. Imagine my surprise to find out that I had been denied service because I complained about rude customer service. I was not loud, disrespectful or rude I mearly stated that I have never been in a service environment where someone told me told me there was nothing they could do for me. I thought this might be an isolsted incident but since I was referred out but still needed to have my dog's nails trimmed. I tried another Petco at Gulfcoast Town Center and they were almost as bad. When I got there two groomers were sitting on their phones. I felt as if my presence was an inconvenience. Petco you really need to get it together!

I usually go to Petco in the Forum for ALL of my animals' needs. l have a dragon and a tarantula that require LIVE insects for food. In the past I would order a quantity and size at the register. Very convenient and was a catalyst for other inquiries and sales. Recently, they changed the whole process. Now, crickets are pre-bagged and located in the aisle with other reptile products. The have various sizes and quantities. The problem is when they bag the crickets, they are prevented from eating or drinking. Therefor e they die very quickly. The last batch I purchased nearly half of the crickets were dead within 24 hours. Extremely disappointed.
