I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Mikael Gagnon. He has been caring for my dog, Tiesto, for over a year, and the level of care, patience, and compassion he consistently shows is truly exceptional. Tiesto has been part of my life for 12 years, so over the years we have met many good veterinary professionals. But Dr. Gagnon genuinely stands out. What I appreciate most about him is the way he treats both Tiesto and me. He is incredibly kind, gentle, attentive, and patient with my dog, and he always takes the time to explain what is happening in a way that I can actually understand. He doesn’t simply use complicated medical terminology — he explains the situation, puts things into context, answers my questions, and makes sure I understand the reasoning behind his recommendations. He does all of this with such a calm, respectful, and compassionate approach. When you have loved a pet for 12 years, especially as they get older, having a veterinarian you truly trust means so much. I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Gagnon caring for Tiesto. He is an outstanding veterinarian and a truly wonderful professional. I highly recommend Dr. Mikael Gagnon to anyone looking for someone who combines excellent veterinary care with genuine compassion, patience, and humanity. I also want to extend a very special thank you to Leslie at the front desk and to the entire team. Everyone we have interacted with has always been incredibly kind, welcoming, helpful, and caring. You can truly feel that the people there care about the animals and the families who love them. That kindness makes such a difference, especially during the more difficult or emotional moments of caring for a pet. Thank you, Dr. Gagnon, Leslie, and the entire team for taking such wonderful care of Tiesto and for always treating us with so much kindness and compassion. We are truly grateful for all of you. ❤️🐾

My experience at Banfield Pet Hospital in Fort Lauderdale was deeply concerning. My Golden Retriever had a small cyst (2-3 cm) that should have required routine removal. However, the procedure took over three hours, resulting in 30 stitches and a massive 30+ cm scar across his abdomen. As a physician, I immediately recognized the concerning nature of this approach. When I expressed concerns about the extensive surgical technique, the vet became dismissive and confrontational, offering no explanation for why such an invasive procedure was necessary. What alarmed me further was that even laypeople who saw my dog could not believe the extent of the scarring and damage—they didn't need medical training to recognize something went wrong. For perspective, minimally invasive techniques exist precisely to minimize complications like infection and excessive scarring. My dog suffered significantly for 3-4 days post-surgery and could barely walk. Two weeks later, when I returned to have the sutures removed, I was told they would charge an additional $300. At that point, I decided to leave the facility. I refuse to pay more money for excessive stitches that were placed in my dog without medical necessity. Combined with the dismissive customer service and lack of accountability for questionable surgical decisions, this facility demonstrated a troubling pattern of prioritizing revenue over patient welfare. If this had happened to a human patient under my care, it would be considered malpractice. I'm sharing this to protect other pet owners from potentially unnecessary suffering and exploitation. Please consider seeking a second opinion before choosing this location.

So where do I start.... oh my goodness, I have had a ruff 2 days... got treated terrible at another pet hospital.... To make a long story short my technician, Rose and Dr. Mikael, went above and beyond to not only show compassion for a very emotional family but also to make sure we made the best decision for our beloved Carrot.... I am so appreciative of your care and support and highly recommend this as your pet hospital

I am extremely disappointed with Banfield Pet Hospital. In my experience, the focus seemed to be more on generating repeat visits and additional charges than actually resolving my pet’s health issue. After spending money on exams and treatment, the problem was not properly addressed, and I was left feeling like I was being asked to return repeatedly for the same issue without getting real answers or effective care. As a pet owner, I expect veterinarians to prioritize the health and well-being of animals, not unnecessary follow-up visits and additional expenses. The experience felt unethical and left me with very little confidence in the doctors and staff at this location. I will not be bringing my dogs back to Banfield, and I would not recommend them to other pet owners looking for compassionate, thorough, and trustworthy veterinary care.
