The Banfield team has always been there for our pets and for us. They offer the best in houses care and provide us with helpful information to continue at home routines. Our dogs get excited when going to the vet because of the attention and care they are providing.

It was a last-minute appointment. I still have to be referred out, but they did answer all my questions and we’re very helpful

Extremely disappointing and upsetting experience at Banfield Casselberry. We called a WEEK ahead and clearly explained that we had a 15-year-old cat with a major decline in quality of life—screaming throughout the night, licking her belly bald, sensitivity to touch, a distended abdomen, walking abnormally, and appearing painful, stressed and unhappy. We specifically said her owner had made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her. We discussed pricing and were told to bring her in. The person on the phone was kind and understanding, so her owner emotionally prepared herself to say goodbye. Instead, we spent over TWO HOURS there and left feeling judged and awful. The tech was very kind, but the veterinarian was incredibly dismissive and presumptuous. Before she even touched or examined the cat, she made comments about never in her 30 years euthanizing a cat without trying treatment first or for “behavioral issues.” We had clearly described multiple signs of PAIN and physical decline—not simply behavioral problems. I actually had to stop her and ask, “Can you at least examine the cat before you say all of this?” She repeatedly commented on the cat being overweight and made comments like “this is a cat, not a dog” and that cats aren’t easy pets. She pushed medication/treatment while the owner was sitting there devastated after agonizing over this decision for more than SIX MONTHS. Then, after all of this, we were told their X-ray machine had been broken all day. That would have been helpful to know beforehand considering this elderly cat has a distended abdomen and walks abnormally. I completely understand that a veterinarian can refuse to perform euthanasia. That’s not the issue. The issue is that we called ahead, explained exactly why we were coming, were told we could come in for euthanasia, and then were treated as though the owner had casually decided to put down her cat for behavioral problems. This woman has loved and cared for her cat for all 15 years of her life. This was NOT a quick, easy, or convenient decision. She left feeling like a terrible cat mom when she came in trying to make a compassionate decision for an elderly animal she loves deeply. Thankfully we knew about the free first-visit coupon, because otherwise this experience would have cost around $70 on top of everything else. End-of-life care requires compassion. We experienced very little of it from this veterinarian. If you’re facing a heartbreaking quality-of-life decision with an elderly pet, I would strongly recommend going somewhere that specializes in compassionate end-of-life care.

The location in Casselberry took great care of my dog over the years. We unfortunately had to put her down this time. The team couldn’t have been more helpful and understanding throughout the whole process. Thanks for making a tough thing a little more bearable.
