I have been a loyal Petco customer for years and have always shopped at this location because of its excellent selection of saltwater fish. This is my first negative experience, and unfortunately my disappointment is with the customer service more than the fish itself. I purchased a saltwater fish and drove about 15 minutes home. By the time I arrived, it had lost its color and was barely using its fins. I immediately contacted Petco Customer Care and was told to return to the store for a replacement under the 30-day live animal guarantee. The next morning, we returned but the store couldn’t open due to a power outage. We explained the situation while holding the fish in a bucket and were told to come back later for a replacement. No one mentioned that saltwater fish were excluded. When I returned, Michael in aquatics was, as always, kind and helpful. Anthony, the acting manager, explained that the guarantee only applied to freshwater fish. I showed him screenshots from Customer Care instructing me to come in for a replacement, but he said they were “just a third party.” While I was still in the store, Customer Care told me exchanges are ultimately at the manager’s discretion. Anthony said the general manager would not approve one. I wasn’t asking for a refund—only an exchange for a fish that was clearly unhealthy almost immediately after purchase. Anthony did offer me a discount on another fish, and I appreciate that. I also don’t believe he was trying to be unhelpful. I truly think he was following the general manager’s direction. What disappointed me most was the lack of flexibility, especially as a loyal customer who has never asked for an exchange before. Before I left, Anthony took my contact information and said the general manager would call me the next day. This happened on Sunday, and as of Tuesday I still haven’t received a call. Another concern was seeing a saltwater fish in one of the store’s tanks lying at the bottom and barely breathing. That reinforced my concern that the fish I purchased may have already been unhealthy. Thankfully, because of my boyfriend’s experience with saltwater aquariums, we’ve managed to keep it alive by isolating and treating it, but it’s still barely hanging on. My frustration isn’t that a fish got sick—these things can happen. It’s the inconsistent information between Customer Care and the store, the lack of follow-up, and the unwillingness to make things right despite the circumstances. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves communication and customer service for loyal customers.

It’s been many years since I’ve been in the store actually haven’t been in it since it first opened and I have to say I was very impressed with the prices and the variety of pet products. I was also impressed with the cleanliness of the store and the cages that the animals were in I’ll be going back more often.

People with dogs that should not be in public seem to dominate this place. If your dog has no manners and just barks to hear itself and lunges at people and other dogs even playfully leave it at home.
