Most unsettling experience at a vet we have ever had and this was just a yearly check up with vaccines. We waited 30 minutes in a very busy lobby with several dogs coming up to our cat carrier. When with the vet, the whole experience was rushed through, the people handling our cat were not calm all, squeezing our cat while saying "distraction, distraction, distraction" over and over again while the vet adminsitered the vaccines into our flinching ready to squirm cat. My cat has always been calm and cooperative at the vet. This time she was nervous the entire time.

If you are looking for a veterinary team that will care for your pets as if they were their own, we highly recommend Alachua Animal Hospital. We are beyond grateful for everything they do for our three dogs and for the comfort they bring to our family.

The Vets at this Animal Hospital are compassionate and caring to both the pets and their owners. They have been fabulous with both of my dogs one of whom is a service animal and the other one is a rescue. They are now getting older and the Vets continue to provide excellent care for them I am so pleased with this vet service I recommend them to everyone.

I brought my 11 y/o cat Theo in for a dental exam due to his awful breath & discomfort when eating. Paid for a cleaning, with oral X-rays, and was offered the option of an X-ray of the heart as well due to his age. Said yes to the treatment plan as presented.
I was concerned that he may need extractions so the X-rays were extremely relevant to my reason for a visit. The doctor sort of gaslit me, saying how “we always think the worst.” Ok, well you’re the one with a Vetrinarian degree. Let me know. Got the call he didn’t need any extractions, teeth cleaned, picked him up.
Fast forward a month- problem as presented still exists. Brought him to another vet, who explained in depth the things that could be causing it and what she thought was the best course of action. It was refreshing to go from being gaslit to actual intellectual discussion about his issues.
She ended up removing his two upper canine teeth due to large pockets around them causing inflammation & pain. Smell is gone. Discomfort is gone.
When the new vet requested records, all that was sent over was his labs. No x-ray reading of the heart or the mouth. No images of either. In total, I paid these people over $700 in two appointments and I got nothing in return.
Lastly, I’ll also advise that he appeared to be overmedicated when picked up-falling all over himself for hours from just a cleaning.
He came home walking and hungry after the extractions from Suburban with an equal amount of time from procedure to pick up.
I do not trust the competency of this vet and would not recommend.
It’s an attractive modern facility, but the evident lack of concern for Theo’s comfort and well being are what stood out the most!
