My husband and I brought our two dogs to the Vetco vaccine clinic for the first time. Upon arriving, we were nervous to see that we were familiar with the vet working that day. The vet on duty was Dr. Gallagher, who also works at Brenford South in Camden. Our pets were patients at Brenford until they were scheduled several times with Dr. Gallagher. Each time we brought our dogs to her, she was rude and patronizing to my husband and I, and interacted rather strangely with one of our dogs who is nervous at the vet. After several difficult experiences with Dr. Gallagher, we chose to remove our pets from Brenford South and find care elsewhere. This is how we ended up taking our dogs to Vetco for their shots.
We requested to come inside the exam room with our dogs, and Dr. Gallagher cut us off, told us no, and the tech closed the door, not allowing us inside. Dr. Gallagher showed the same strange behavior with our dog as she did at Brenford - standing over her in an oddly dominant way, not taking the time to get on her level or talk to her calmly. When our dog became nervous and growled, Dr. Gallagher stood over her, repeatedly raised her hand with her finger pointed, and yelled “NO! NO!” at our dog. This agitated our dog even more while the vet tech was trying to hold her in place. Obviously our dog became very fearful and uncomfortable and wanted to get away. The tech opened the door for me to come inside while Dr. Gallagher was still yelling at our dog. When I came in, Dr. Gallagher very curtly told me “she’s aggressive, she tried to bite me,” which was not true. I asked Dr. Gallagher if she thinks yelling at dogs helps to calm them down. Dr. Gallagher then turned her anger toward me, yelling “Well SOMEONE has to tell her no!” I pointed out that yelling is not going to help my dog stay calm, and Dr. Gallagher yelled at me. “You can get out, she gets a muzzle!” I didn’t want to leave my dog alone with Dr. Gallagher and traumatize her even more, so I tried telling Dr. Gallagher that my dog will be fine if I can stay with her to keep her calm. I was able to stay with my dog and stroked her and spoke calmly to her to settle her down so she could get her shots, all the while, Dr. Gallagher berated me saying “I’ve been doing this for 30 years, I know what I’m doing,” and other things along those lines. I just tuned her out and focused on helping my dog calm down. She then put a note in my dog’s account that she is aggressive and has to be seen at full service.
I have never in my life seen a veterinarian yell at a dog this way and show obviously aggressive and domineering body language toward the dog, nor have I had a medical professional yell at me for asking a question or raising a concern. I will absolutely never take my pets back to Vetco, and will discourage friends and family from doing so.

Dr. Gallagher is not a very nice person. She was annoyed by the people coming in to get services for their pets. She voiced her displeasure without a concern who heard her.
