In the heart of the NoMa neighborhood, our brand new dog daycare and boarding facility has multiple and spacious playrooms with large turf potty areas! We could not be more excited to host all the wonderful dogs of NoMa and Washington, DC for daily play time and socialization.
I would not entrust Playful Pack to care for my dog again.
My dog's first full day of daycare at this location turned into an experience I still find deeply disturbing.
When I arrived to pick him up the facility was extremely hot. I asked the font desk employee why, and was told that the air conditioning wasn't working. Despite that, my dog along with other dogs had remained inside this facility. I had received no notification whatsoever during the day that there was an HVAC problem.
When my dog was finally brought out to me, he was not acting like himself and immediately drank more water in one sitting than I had ever seen him drink before. I asked to see the area where the dogs being kept because I was told it was cooler in the back. In my experience, it was not. The conditions I personally encountered were alarmingly hot.
This was especially concerning because I had specifically sought answers regarding the HVAC failure, the conditions in which the dogs were kept, why customers weren't notified, the webcam availability, and what procedures were followed to protect the dogs. I submitted questions in writing and spent weeks attempting to obtain a response.
When I eventually spoke directly with Tyler Parker, who identified himself as one of Playful Pack's owners, he acknowledged that the NoMa facility has experienced "fluctuating ongoing HVAC issues that weren't able to be repaired."
Rather than provide written answers to my questions, he told me Playful Pack "was not gonna sit here and document and reply to my email." The conversation ultimately ended with him referring me as "psychotic" for my email and phone conservation before he disconnected unprofessionally.
I understand that equipment can fail. What I cannot understand is keeping pet owners uninformed while their animals are inside a facility experiencing HVAC problems, followed by weeks of difficulty obtaining straightforward answers about what occurred.
My dog is family to me. The cost of daycare can be refunded. The trust you place in someone to keep your animal safe is much harder to replace. Based on the conditions I personally witnessed, the lack of communication, and the response I ultimately received from ownership, Tyler Parker, I cannot recommend Playful Pack to anyone. If this is how ownership responds when a serious animal-welfare concern reaches the highest level of the company, I think prospective customers deserve to know that before placing their pets in this company's care.
When a serious concern is escalated all the way from local management to ownership and the response is refusal, insult, and disconnection, that speaks volume about the culture at the top.

My pup had a blast! So nice what they offer there. They even took pictures of my baby playing. Will be coming back again.

The big dog camera has been down for most of the last few months. One of the main reasons I take my dog here is so that I can check on her throughout the day, but I can’t because the camera is broken so often.
