Disappointed to report that our second visit to Bond Vet was unpleasant. Exam room and table were both dirty when we entered. I brought my cat in for a chipped tooth and the vet, without asking me any questions about my cat's temperament or taking the time to get to know us, wrapped her aggressively in a towel to examine the tooth.
I understand that animal restraints protect both vets and animals. If the vet had taken the time to ask me about my cat's temperament, however, she would have learned that my cat allows vets to look inside her mouth with no problems if I am holding her. We actually did that today with a different vet- no biting or scratching. The vet displayed, in my opinion, a complete disregard for my pet's emotional welfare. And no, she is NOT "just an animal"; I would think a vet's office would be a little more concerned with treating their patients with care, gentleness, and respect.
I got very teary and anxious as a result of the ordeal and the vet acted as though I was being ridiculous for being upset. And, the exam ended up being a waste of money, because they couldn't give me a straight answer as to what needed to happen next.
I have reached out to Bond Vet several times to complain and have been offered no reply, apology, or remedy. I understand that vets have a difficult job and have to ensure their own safety. But there is a way to do it that still respects their patients and their patients' owners.
If anyone is looking for a vet, I would recommend Union Vet, who I went to today. They had to restrain my cat to get bloodwork, but warned me in advance and apologized throughout for how unpleasant the restraints were. It is literally as simple as displaying a little human decency, which Bond Vet appears to be lacking. Very disappointed and I cannot counsel avoiding Bond Vet enough.
