Banfield Adams Morgan held my beloved cat's remains for OVER THREE WEEKS without communicating with either myself (despite my multiple inquiries) or the contracted crematorium, before the crematorium finally took initiative and collected her remains. Apparently other pet owners experienced similar issues around the same time. This is incredibly disrespectful and totally unacceptable.
My cat had been a patient with Banfield Adams Morgan for over 6 years. She passed away on June 30, 2026, and I brought her remains to the hospital the next day to be cremated by Pet Haven at Highview, which works with Banfield. Banfield told me at the time that I had just missed that week's crematorium pick-up, and that my cat's remains would be kept in refrigeration at the hospital for a few days and collected for cremation the following week, which I was okay with. But it turned out my cat wasn't picked up until July 24, more than THREE WEEKS after. During that time, I called Banfield many times to get updates. The first two times I called in the initial two weeks, I was led to believe that my cat had already been cremated, but her ashes were still at the crematorium, because the hospital had some recent closures and missed the crematorium's regular delivery days, but they would work to get her ashes back ASAP (in reality, my cat's remains were still held by the hospital at that time). When I tried calling again at the end of July, the hospital was apparently closed for several days, and I couldn't speak to anyone on the phone. I had to call a different Banfield in Bethesda, and the staff there answered and arranged for my cat's ashes to be finally delivered to their location. During this time, Banfield Adams Morgan did not reach out to me once with any update or explanation.
When I picked up my cat's ashes at Banfield Bethesda, I found out that she was only cremated on July 24, which contradicted what Banfield Adams Morgan had told me. I called the crematorium to find out what had happened, and their staff explained that Banfield Adams Morgan kept closing and kept missing scheduled pick-ups by the crematorium, and Banfield staff did not have any communication or make any contingency arrangements with the crematorium, so my cat's remains – alongside those of a couple other pets – were just held by the hospital for weeks; the crematorium finally took initiative and arranged for the remains to be shipped to a Banfield in ANNAPOLIS, where they were finally picked up.
Again, keeping deceased pets' remains for over 3 weeks without any communications with either the owners or the crematorium is utterly unprofessional and disrespectful. Owners should not have to worry about the whereabout of their beloved pets' remains or stress over when they could get the ashes back on top of grieving. It's especially shameful and disappointing to treat a client who has been with Banfield Adams Morgan for over 6 years this way. I will not be coming back.

My dog underwent surgery last Thursday. It’s now Tuesday at 4:00 AM, and I’m still awake, keeping him company. He’s nostalgic and bleeding profusely. I can’t believe this is happening right now. For the past few months, I’ve had to reschedule his appointment because there was no one available at the facility to perform the routine dental cleaning he needed. They had scheduled it for a Monday, but we were two months in advance. I dropped him off at 7:00 AM, and an hour later, I received a call back, but no doctors were available. I had to go and pick him up again. I took an Uber because I live in Maryland, which is almost 40 minutes away from the location.
So, on Thursday, we had a dental appointment along with the mass removal. After the surgery, I picked him up. I was given painkillers but not any antibiotics for his wound or possible infection. Before scheduling the mass removal, I had it tested, and it came back benign. I was quoted a certain price, but the new doctor gave me a higher price. It doesn’t matter about the price, but now I feel like my dog’s condition is not great after the mass was removed. He’s swollen and seeping out pus mixed with blood. This is not a great location. Honestly, it’s a horrible location. I feel so bad right now about my dog and what he’s going through. so I was not able to go directly back to the same location nor Banfield itself to have the situation remedied they told me that I had to go take him to an emergency vet and that’s what I did $4000 later after paying $700 for the Services at Banfield. I now had to pay an additional 4000 somewhere else whereas what the doctors at the emergency room told me was that there wasn’t probably in incision.

This is the most irresponsible and inconsiderate vet facility I've ever dealt with. First, my appointment was canceled the night before because the vet had a family emergency. I completely understand that emergencies happen, but why is there only one vet available? I rescheduled, and then once again, at 9 p.m. the night before my appointment, I got a message asking me to drop off my dog instead of having the in-room appointment I specifically scheduled. They couldn't even be bothered to call during normal business hours. The customer service at this location is terrible. I've had great experiences at the Reston and Bethesda locations. SMH

I find everyone who works at Banfield from the front desk workers, to the techs to the vets to be caring and friendly. I appreciate The convenience of being able to drop off my pets in the morning to pick them up after work. I always find the vets to be really communicative and helpful.
