I use to adore the doctors at this vet the entire time we had my cat. In the beginning we gravitated to one vet and we stuck with her. She was very kind and conservative. Our boy required yearly teeth cleanings which we were made aware of when he was adopted. Over the past few years the vibe of this office and doctor drastically changed. The vet became pushy and the way she spoke to us made use feel almost guilty if we didn't want to take her recommendations. He was 9 so the vet constantly recommended bloodwork...which we did. At one of our last appointments the bloodwork showed in her words "slight kidney elevations" and she urged us to get him an ultrasound asap. When I waffled a little bit she basically implied that if this was her pet she'd do it and couldn't believe I was even questioning it. After I agreed is when everything went down hill. She called me after drop off and said he needed to be sedated. Never once was he uncooperative or sedated with any other test/procedure. I reluctantly agreed. Within 12 hours he was vomiting, having insane diarrhea and was clearly unwell. We brought him back that morning. That specific vet was too busy to see us so another vet gave him fluids and sent us off. It got worse. We spent the next 5 days at the emergency vet who were not only incredible on treating him, not pushy, and realistic, they verified there was not a single thing wrong with his kidneys per his bloodwork and an ultrasound which he did not need to be sedated for. I'm not blaming this one specific incident on his downfall, but this is when all of his issues began. One week later South Wilton called and suggested he picked up a virus and it "most definitely had nothing to do with the sedation" Direct quote. Our seemingly healthy 9 year old boy was not the same since. He recently had another incident where he injured his eye. South Wilton misdiagnosed him and gave us a sheet of animal ophthalmologists and basically said good luck getting an appointment. They had no issues taking our money every time though. My boy passed away this past weekend due to heart failure. It was incredibly sudden. The ER vet and the ophthalmologist called me and expressed condolences and couldn't believe the outcome of the weekend. I even received handwritten cards from both places. South Wilton Vet was called and informed he passed and I was told "oh..okay" 7 years of going there and that's the response. Never in my life have I seen such a flip in a business who is supposed to help animals turn into such a money grab. I was in the process of switching vets, but I never got the chance. I will never, ever return to this vet and I urge other people to consider other options.

I bring my ferret to Trumbull Animal Hospital. This past week, Zorba had a crisis. Unfortunately, his Veterinarian was on vacation and Zorba needed surgery to remove an obstruction. Dr Schunk at South Wilton stepped up to the plate after Trumbull Animal Hospital contacted her. My ferret was transported to South Wilton. I called to give a verbal ok for the procedure and we were all good. Dr Schunk called me before the surgery to explain everything and answer any and all of my questions. She was patient, kind, and thorough. She called again after the surgery to update me that it went very well. She told me all of her findings, and answered my questions. Unfortunately, she had left for the day when I went to pick up Zorba. I'd have liked to meet her. The tech who came out to talk to me was wonderful, spent a lot of time with me discussing postoperative care, explaining the medications, etc. My only "complaint" and it's minor, is the receptionist didn't have the same level of friendliness and customer service as the Tech and Dr Schunk have. I felt as though my arrival to retrieve my ferret was an inconvenience to the woman who was at the desk. But it was the end of the day.. on a Friday. I probably would have wanted to go home, too. Other than that small thing, a very positive experience. Thank you, Dr Schunk and Team for stepping up and giving Zorba great care.

I went for my bearded dragon and I couldn’t be more glad I did. They’re all extremely kind and knowledgeable, they listened to my concerns and were very reassuring. Not terribly unaffordable but I will continue to bring all my pets here

Dr. Schunk was absolutely wonderful. She was patient, attentive, and took the time to thoroughly explain everything in a way that made me feel comfortable and informed. I never felt rushed, and she answered all of my questions thoughtfully and clearly. Her knowledge and expertise were very evident, and I truly felt my bearded dragon Lemon Drop was in capable hands. I highly recommend Dr. Schunk to anyone looking for a compassionate and skilled vet!
