Banfield Pet Hospital® - Glastonbury provides quality and attentive health and wellness care for dog, cat and small animal pet patients. Our veterinarians and staff are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and preventive health care with a full-service medical facility offering general services like routine vaccinations, microchipping, dental and surgical care and more. We are accepting new patients now.
My pet was seen on a Sunday which was an absolute plus. The young ladies at the front desk ( Gillian and Destiny) were kind, attentive to both my pet and my self. I also could see both ladies interacting with other clients/pets where the ladies were very professional and understanding. Since transitioning to the Glastonbury office my pet enjoys going to the vet as well as getting pets from the staff!
Dr. Guerra has been amazing as well as the other staff in the office.

So, a lady called me about five minutes ago and asked why Bolton Vet had contacted them for my dog’s medical records. She also asked what happened and why I was switching vets.
The reason is that I no longer feel that this vet truly acts in the best interest of my dog. I often feel that they care more about the money in my pocket than about providing the right care for him.
Dr. Sternberg is wonderful, and I think he is the best vet there, but unfortunately, it is very difficult to get an appointment with him. I have worked with two other vets at this location and have had several bad experiences.
For example, one vet prescribed my dog a supplement for a liver issue based on a very minor elevation in his ALT. The supplement caused my dog to vomit for seven days. I repeatedly called and tried to get an appointment, but they were unable to see him. I eventually had to take him to the ER. Fortunately, the ER found that his ALT was fine, and more importantly, an ultrasound showed that he was healthy.
Something else also concerned me. Because I had been calling and visiting the clinic frequently during this period, I repeatedly overheard other owners being told that their dogs also had high ALT levels. One of those dogs was a puppy, while my dog is a senior, and I believe at least two others were adult dogs. After hearing this happen so many times, I started to wonder whether there might be an issue with the machine or laboratory process being used for the bloodwork. I obviously cannot know that for sure, but it made me uncomfortable and added to my concerns.
I have been with Banfield for about 10 years and previously used Banfield locations in both California and Massachusetts without these kinds of problems. Unfortunately, my experience with the Connecticut location has been very different.
That is why I decided to switch to Bolton Vet. My experience so far is that they make decisions based on what they believe is best for my dog, rather than focusing on how much money they can charge me.
I have had many other negative experiences with this vet that I don’t have time to explain here. Ultimately, what matters to me is not the cost. I am willing to spend whatever is necessary for my dog’s health. What I care about is knowing that he is receiving appropriate treatment and that medical decisions are being made in his best interest.

What was a normal pickup of my dog yesterday turned into an unexpectedly great experience. Gill, Gillian, G$ - was amazing. She had to (unfortunately) read me the entire terms and conditions since we were having trouble accessing the link to my phone. She did not only do a wonderful job, but made a monotonous task fun.
The team here has always been the best support for my fur babies, and loves them as their own. This is the only Banfield location I will continue to return to, regardless of the distance from my house.
Ps - I hope Gil gets to read this out loud and show off her untouchable public speaking skills. (#3rdplace)

Frequently Asked Questions About Banfield Pet Hospital
Does Banfield provide emergency care services?

Can I get veterinary care online?
To help pets and their people stay healthy, Banfield clients who have Optimum Wellness Plans® can get remote general pet care advice and triage support directly from a veterinarian 24/7 through Vet Chat™ on the Banfield app.
What preventive pet health care services does Banfield offer?
We believe that preventive care is the most effective way to keep your pet healthy throughout all stages of life. Our pet hospitals offer many preventive care treatments, including:
• Vaccinations
• Dental Care
• Parasite Control

• Behavioral Counseling
• Comprehensive Examinations
What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
• Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
