- AEAlexis ElliottJul 8, 20261.0My dog has been groomed at Petco for almost 10 years. He's a Labrador retriever, who saw the same groomer for many years, and she always did an amazing job. After she left a year or two ago, we’ve continued coming back a handful of times, hoping to find another groomer we were happy with. Unfortunately, each visit has been more disappointing than the last, and this most recent appointment was enough for me to decide not to return. My dog was there for almost two and a half hours, yet when I picked him up he was still damp and covered in loose shedding hair, as if he hadn’t been properly dried or brushed out. I had specifically asked that his ears not be touched because they’re sensitive, but they were clearly “cleaned” anyway. They were extremely red when I picked him up, and he has since developed an ear infection. To make matters worse, one of his back nails was bleeding while the rest of his nails hadn’t even been trimmed. None of the services listed for a dog groom was done or completed. I ended up having to finish the grooming myself at home after paying almost $100 for the service. My dog is 10 years old and has been professionally groomed his entire life, so I know what to expect from a quality grooming appointment. This experience was disappointing, and I expected much better, especially considering the price. I hope this feedback helps improve the quality of care for future clients and their pets. After this appointment I would never ever recommend anyone to trust the staff with their pet.
