I had a terrible experience here. I booked my first time appointments almost a month ahead, they called to ask for the deposit, I gave them my info and they happily took our money. A week before our appointment they called to cancel because they were no longer taking new patients. I thought it was a little unprofessional but fine, they said they were going to refund. It’s been over a month and they haven’t done anything about that refund yet. I keep calling, no one ever picks up and if they do they say they’re going to check and call me back (and they don’t). If you make people give you a deposit at least have the courtesy of honoring the commitment made. And if you can’t don’t make it so hard for them to get a simple refund.

I moved to Avon in April and called Animal General in July to make an appointment for my new dog. My son had already taken his cat. I made an appointment for October but they canceled almost three weeks later leaving me lost.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about the care our senior dog Grover received at Animal General, especially from Dr. Haley Guhn-Knight. Dr. Haley was compassionate, knowledgeable, and truly listened to all of our concerns. She always took the time to explain everything in a way we could understand and made sure we felt informed every step of the way. I have honestly never met a veterinarian more invested in their patient. Even during her personal time, she would respond to emails and send us studies and information regarding the infectious disease that unfortunately took Grover’s life. She also went above and beyond to make Grover comfortable during his exams — getting down on the floor with him, laying out yoga mats and blankets, and treating him with so much kindness and dignity. Although we ultimately had to say goodbye to Grover, we are so grateful for everything Dr. Haley did for him and for our family during such a difficult time. Thank you, Dr. Haley, for everything you did for Grover. We will never forget it

I've had a lot of animals throughout my life, not just in Connecticut. I must say the staff at Animal General are truly a unique set of vets. I love all of them and so do my animals. Would highly recommend them, and have throughout my time in Connecticut.
