Best veterinarian in the country along with the best monthly plans for our beloved dogs and cats! Highly recommend!

I have the Banfield Plus coverage, where I pay a monthly fee (around $70/month) that includes one annual teeth cleaning and is supposed to include maintenance for that. I was surprised and disappointed when I was asked if I wanted to pay $40 for anti-nausea meds post-procedure since my understanding that everything was covered. Since my dog had never exhibited any post-dental-cleaning signs of nausea, I just assumed this was unnecessary. Maybe the anesthesia is different than my previous vet or maybe my previous vet included any necessary meds in their annual plan, but my dog has had soft stools now going on the 3rd day. FYI: this was a simple dental cleaning, no extractions needed etc. since my dog gets a cleaning each year. IMO the $40 up-charge is bad business. I feel nickel-and-dimed. And it shows a lack of concern if most dogs get nauseous—even those who've never had nausea following a dental cleaning. Instead, charge me a couple extra bucks each month, but include everything. Although I really liked the veterinarian. IMO I think Banfield corporate appears greedy. And I'm considering taking my business elsewhere next year after my coverage is done.

Very disappointed with Banfield. They refused to refill my dogs medication with no warning. Had I known they needed to see him again before they would refill his next prescription, I would’ve had scheduled one before today. I said fine, but I can’t bring him until I return in 2 weeks from out of town. I politely asked if they could give him two weeks worth of medication until I return, they said “no.” I asked “what am I supposed to do? Let my dog suffer?” So I asked, what’s a good OTC med I can give him so that he’s not suffering until I can bring him in to get his meds refilled. They replied, “There isn’t anything.” Right then, knew they didn’t care about my dog. Right when I got off that call I called a good friend of mine who is a vet up in Minnesota and told him the situation. Not only did he say, “Banfield lied to you” (which I knew) but was very surprised how dismissive they were of my dog’s health. He gave me some good OTC suggestions but then said “why don’t I just write a script for your dog and you go fill it with Chewy or one of the many other online vet providers online! If you are thinking of choosing Banfield because you think it’s a cheaper option than your neighborhood vet, think again and do your research. A lot of hidden fees, they don’t tell you about upfront. Had Banfield not treated me the way they did today, I wouldn’t have found out about the latest in telehealth for dogs, which is much cheaper, and about OTC medications and supplements. I would rather give my money to a vet who cares about their business, but also about the well-being of my pets.
