  Adopted my 1 year old cat on 6/30/2026. Took advantage of free first exam offer on 7/14/2026 at Banfield in Fort Collins. Photo of my cat is attached. I just received a copy of her exam notes and read them today. The first mistake was that they listed her color as tan! She is solid black. The tech and the doctor never appeared to do an exam on my cat. Then the notes said she’s undergoing therapy for gingivitis. That’s not true and I never suggested that. I’m not even sure she has gingivitis as it was not pointed out to me. Can a 1 year old cat have gingivitis? The record incorrectly states that she has no microchip number. She had been chipped before I adopted her. There are other mistakes in the record, too. The clinic is closed for the rest of the day now, but I will call them about this tomorrow. I think the exam and this record were completed carelessly. I would be concerned that her medical care would be executed carelessly, too.

  Worst place ever . Unprofessional, forgetful, all over the place. Forgot to call my dogs meds in twice . One of the vets said that my dog needed emergency surgery , gave me a INCORRECT Diagnose and just sent me on my way without any help or resources .I didn’t have thousands of dollars for surgery and they were not willing to even help me (even though they have a program for people like me) Amount of knowledge that comes out of there is very small. McDonald’s of vet hospitals for sure . I ended up figuring out how to get my dog surgery…and come to find out she didn’t need it..she had gave me a wrong diagnosis this whole time.

  Our dog Maple had a life-threatening and hard-to-diagnose event this summer. The staff at Banfield handled everything perfectly. Not only did they expertly diagnose the situation, they kept me fully informed along the way. Maple is always happy to go back. I can’t say enough good things about the staff here.

  UPDATE: The veterinary doctor at Raintree in Fort Collins told me that Banfield's recommendation that my dog drop 4 pounds was excessive and that 1-2 pounds is reasonable and that he's only carrying a little bit of extra weight on his ribs. Banfield doesn't know what they're doing. They are the "Walmart" of vet clinics and commenting on every review asking people to EMAIL is bad service. According to what I dug up, Banfield goes by a rigid standardized corporate system for a dog's weight rather than an individualized physical Body Condition Score (BCS) which is what Raintree did. They judged the fat coverage on my Cavalier's ribs and gave me a sustainable plan for how he can shed a healthy 1-2 pounds. I had no consultation with Banfield—just a comment and a "he needs to lose 4 pounds and be 16-17 pounds." That would mean him losing 20% of his current body mass which alarmed me. The staff also seemed perturbed that I got a second opinion and had those medical records sent to them so that they could update my dog's file accordingly. So, Banfield fails horribly in the sense that they treat their clients and their pets like cogs in a corporate machine and go by a standardized system that flags your dog as "fat" without so much as an explanation, guidance, or education. It makes me wonder about other things such as the quality of their other medical procedures and the conditions in the back we as pet owners don't see when we do a drop-off and pick-up. I will also add that the staff at this location has a poor attitude especially one woman who works the desk who made a snide comment once about a scent I was wearing and made a stink face. ORIGINAL: I've been going to Banfield with my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for 4 years, since he was 9 weeks old. Yesterday, the staff told me he's overweight at 19.8 pounds and that he needs to be 16 to 17 pounds. There are a couple of things that seems strange to me: they told me he's always been overweight and I know the breed standard is 13 to 18 pounds which will depend on the individual dog. He doesn't look overweight and I feel more okay having him hover at 18 pounds but 16 pounds raises a concern he'll be more on the emaciated side. Plus, why would this be brought up as a concern after 4 years and them knowing this for 4 years. That is completely odd to me. There were also scheduling problems. The staff took his bloodwork knowing that he'd need it for his dental and to not have to do that again they'd have to schedule the appointment within the next two weeks. They never checked with me on my availability and scheduling the dental before doing the blood work. Luckily, the staff said they'd comp me after I got upset with them. Banfield does have affordable wellness plans. I will give them that but their staff seems less attentive, knowledgable, and responsible. I had a prior issue with a staff member that worked the front desk and asked if I was wearing patchouli and I told her yes. She proceeded to give me a disgusted look and was nasty with me. This isn't a one-off issue for me and why I have scheduled a veterinary appointment at Raintree off Shields for a second opinion. They've been around for 15+ years with 800+ 4.5+ star reviews. I'm not sure I trust Banfield and I'm going with my gut and intuition on this one. If they don't raise weight as a concern for 4 years, what else will they fail or miss telling me in the future?
