I have been consulting with your hospital for over a week regarding Zydeco’s complex case. Because we live four hours away, my dog had to go to the ER before our scheduled in-person consult. Unfortunately, your staff failed to communicate critical information about the required next steps, despite later claiming they had done so. When we called to advise that we were en route, we were turned away and told you could not see us. Zydeco currently has chest tubes in place and urgently needs emergency care. Our local ER veterinarian warned that he could die if we simply take him home without proper transfer. Despite this, there was no apparent concern or effort to accommodate his critical needs. The technician we spoke with was rude, blamed staffing shortages in the veterinary industry, and ended the call by slamming the phone down in anger. Given the potential $15,000–$20,000 treatment plan we were seriously considering, this experience is extremely disappointing. The lack of professionalism and care has completely destroyed any trust we had in your facility. We cannot in good conscience bring Zydeco there for treatment, especially after witnessing how a simple communication issue was handled with such hostility. We regret the two weeks of time wasted on this process.

I urge everybody who gets any kind of bad news when going to a vet to seek another opinion. I took my girl here because in my opinion a local vet in Bailey diagnosed one of my dogs incorrectly which resulted in her no longer being here. I believe vets should have to be held accountable when they are wrong. There is no words, no money that can repair the damage of potentially wrong diagnosis. As.yoi can see, I was told my girl most likely had cancer with only 6-12 months left. After the doctor in Bailey did what they did resulting in the end of my other dog's life, I decided to get another opinion. Thank God. As you can see she did have a UTI and the doctor prescribed antibiotics right away while waiting for blood work instead of the pain killers, death sentence, and night of incontrolable crying I received at this vet. In the end, I still was hit with a bill for all this grief. I am so thankful for the vet I did bring her to but nothing will ever make what the vet in Bailey, Colorado right in my opinion. So please, never give up. Vets are not always right . Get other opinions.

We brought our 6-year-old Labrador, Wally, to VRCC on the evening of May 21, 2026, for an acute emergency. He was vomiting blood, lethargic, and rapidly deteriorating. The medical team evaluated him, performed diagnostics, and ultimately determined that he likely required emergency surgery for a suspected intestinal torsion/vascular event. We were then informed that he needed to be transferred to another hospital for surgical care. What has been difficult for us to process afterward is learning that VRCC advertises emergency surgical services, yet we were later told that a surgeon was not available to perform surgery at that time. According to our records, the receiving hospital (CVSG) was specifically contacted because they had an emergency surgeon available overnight. We understand that staffing realities can be complex and that no hospital can guarantee immediate access to every specialist at every moment. However, as pet owners facing a life-threatening emergency, we believe clients should receive clear information about overnight surgical availability and whether emergency surgery can actually be performed on-site at the time they are seeking care. Our concern is not with the kindness of the staff, who were compassionate during an incredibly traumatic experience. Rather, it is with the communication surrounding surgical availability during a critical emergency. When minutes matter, pet owners deserve transparency about whether definitive surgical care is immediately available or whether transfer to another facility may be necessary. We ultimately lost Wally that night. While we may never know whether a different timeline would have changed the outcome, we hope VRCC reviews how information about emergency surgical coverage is communicated so that families can make the most informed decisions possible during a crisis.

Thank you for taking such good care of little Ricky, all the Docs I spoke with are kind, knowledgeable, are patient and respectful. Thank you for also coordinating care with our primary vet. This made it so much easier on us. Prices are definitely expensive but to be expected during stressful pet emergencies. Thanks again for caring for little Ricky.

I brought my dog in after noticing he was lethargic and had pale gums, and the staff at VRCC quickly noticed there was blood in his abdomen and worked to stabilize him. They transferred me to another location that had an on-call surgeon in case things worsened overnight. As it turns out, he unfortunately had 8-10 tumors on his liver and passed away the next morning. But since VRCC was able to stabilize him and get him transferred, I was able to obtain some closure and say goodbye while he was awake and alert before his surgery.
