I don't mean to be over the top, but the care and professionalism at Laurel have been the best I've experienced in any business setting. Compassion, knowledge, insight, kindness, economy -- literally unsurpassed in my experience in any setting, whether medical or any other service. Thank you to the entire team at Laurel for making me and my dogs feel welcome and cared for.

We saw Dr. Emily Thomas this week. She took really good care of my little Shi Tzu who was having issues with her stomach and vomiting. She gave her some anti nausea medicine and got her hydrated. She is doing much better! By the way the front desk staff are friendly and attentive and a pleasure to be around!

There are not enough wonderful words to describe Laurel vet. It’s easy to say everyone is wonderful but they go far and away to ensure your pet is not only better but is on their way to feeling and being better. You may try other vets but you will never find one better than everyone at Laurel.

I am leaving this review to share our experience at Laurel Veterinary Clinic so that other pet owners can make an informed decision before trusting this practice with their animals. We brought our 10 year old cat Pigeon in because he had not been eating or drinking. What followed was one of the most frustrating and concerning experiences we have had with a veterinary provider. First, we were never properly informed about the sedation protocol. We specifically asked what side effects to expect before the procedure and were told he would just be sleepy. When we got him home he was wobbly, could barely walk, was drooling and foaming at the mouth. We were panicked and had to frantically call the clinic. What we later discovered after requesting his full medical records is that he required a second round of sedation because the first dose was insufficient, and that Ketamine was administered on top of the original drugs. Ketamine is well known to cause exactly what we witnessed. None of this was disclosed to us before or after the procedure despite us asking directly. Second, we were told over the phone that our cat was in the pre-stage of kidney disease. After pushing back and requesting his actual lab results, we found out he is actually IRIS Grade 2 chronic kidney disease. Those are two very different things with very different care implications. We would have been caring for our cat under completely false information had we not advocated for ourselves. Third, after spending over $1,000 on testing and sedation, the only follow up communication we received was a casual two sentence email listing three food brands. No discharge instructions, no care plan, no explanation of his diagnosis, and no guidance on what to watch for at home. Fourth, and perhaps most concerning, after reviewing the complete clinical records there is no formal written diagnosis of kidney disease anywhere in the documentation. The treating veterinarian’s assessment section makes no mention of it. The only staging information came in a casual email from a different doctor who was not even present for the visit. We have since filed a formal complaint with the Colorado State Board of Veterinary Medicine and will be transferring Pigeon’s care to a new provider immediately. If you are looking for a practice that will communicate openly and provide proper follow up care after a significant diagnosis — I would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.
