I don’t normally write bad reviews but here I go. Whatever you do don’t do their plan care for a pet. It’s a horrible plan and if we canceled it we have to pay $700 dollars.after my cat passed away a week later. Never again will my cat or dog that are still living go there. I will find a vet that is honest in their dealings. As far as care is given It was good but my cat still died so now I am stuck paying for something that will never be used again. As far as I’m concerned I was deceived because my cat was really sick. Never ever again. I am so angry. I was not given a copy of the contract that I signed. I had no clue. Stupid me but it will never happen again. Your plan is a rip off and never will you touch one of my animals again. The staff was nice but your deception is what I dislike. I don’t do business with deceptive plans. So you need to be more open about your plans. Never again will I allow you to take care of my pets.

The doctors and staff have been very quick and helpful in taking care of my cat. Their diagnosis and treatment regimen has helped him to become more happy in his older years.

Factual Timeline of my experience: Failure to Consult on Medical Findings (Greeley location): I dropped off my senior dogs for comprehensive preventative care (bloodwork, dental prep, etc.) covered by our plan. I was explicitly told a doctor would communicate findings given their senior status. At pick-up, it was a "roll call" process. No doctor was available, and I was simply handed my dogs with no medical context or review of their results. Forced Schedule Changes and Rushed Care (Brighton location): To get better care, I transferred to the Brighton clinic and scheduled a required 30-minute one-on-one doctor consultation. One hour into my two-hour commute, the clinic called and told me to cancel. I explained I was halfway there, so they forced a "drop-off" appointment instead, ruining my plans for the day. At pick-up near closing time, the doctor was rushing, told me my dogs were overweight, and provided no comprehensive senior health review. Unfulfilled Plan Services & Upselling: On July 15, I inquired about the one-on-one nutrition consultation included in my plan. The front desk staff was entirely unaware of this benefit. I called the Banfield 800-number, conferenced the clinic staff onto the call, and neither corporate nor the clinic could explain my benefits. Hidden Fees and Lack of Transparency: Following the July 15 confusion, I spoke with the Office Manager. I was told anesthesia for a scheduled dental procedure was not included and I needed to upgrade to a "Senior Plus" plan. I upgraded the plan. I explicitly asked the manager for a full quote of all out-of-pocket expenses so I could be financially prepared. I was quoted only for extractions. However, upon arriving for the dental procedure, I was hit with an undisclosed out-of-pocket fee for X-rays. The "Doctor Switch" and Unequal Treatment: On the day of the dental surgery, I spent approximately $2,000. The operating doctor called me and explicitly stated we would have a full discussion about the procedure and diet when I arrived. When I arrived, a completely different doctor stepped out, handed me a bag of prescriptions, told me to "read the paper". I was left in the lobby asking questions to an unsure doctor. Meanwhile, I witnessed a another client being offered a private consultation room to discuss his pet's care with the veterinarian. I did ask why I could not get a room and asked to speak with the doctor. I was denied this exact same basic courtesy and standard of care. Dangerous Medical Contradictions: The promised "nutrition consultation" consisted solely of being handed a generic print-out of treats. Banfield's own bloodwork diagnosed my dogs with elevated liver enzymes. I later learned from another veterinary professional that the treats on the list Banfield handed me are medically contraindicated and harmful for dogs with elevated liver levels. If you want a vet that communicates clearly about billing, treats clients equally, and actually sits down to explain your pet's health, do not go to Banfield.
