My dog has been a regular patient here, both in the cardiology department and unforutnately the emergency department on occasion.
My dog has had chronic heart issues since I adopted him 10 years ago and has seen many cardiologist as we've moved around a bit. I can say without hesititation that Dr. Nakamura is our favorite. He is so kind, thorough, and understanding of our concerns. Not to mention the cardiology nurse, Justin who is simply phenominal. If I could clone Justin to work at every vet clinic I go to, I would. The team care for your pet like they are their own. I swear my dog has had 9 lives because of these folks.
The emergency dept is also great. I love how they can consult my dog's cardiologist because they are the same team. I also appreciate the nurses and reception staff - they are wonderful. So kind, patient, and they really take the time to go through discharge instructions so you don't leave with questions. It's not an easy job, but they do it so well.
I feel pricing is absolutely fair and comparable with what emergency and specialty veterinary care costs - no complaints here.
I will forever be grateful for the team at VSEC.

My 9 week old puppy got bit today by her older Labrador sister. My wife was very upset and took her to this hospital. Just walking in the front door was $160. They said it would cost $1,800 minimum to see what was going on with the puppies nose where there were 2 small lacerations. She was yelping and not doing great. They also wanted to put her under to do a more thorough check. After my wife calmed down, she left and we went to Westlake Village Animal Hospital where they found out in 5 minutes there was no further damage and just gave her pain meds and antibiotics. They were very nice there and helped us right away. More back story to VSEC, this was our 5th time there from our other 2 dogs. The yellow lab needed ACL surgery that cost us $10,500. Then our chocolate lab had anal glands that they made into a way bigger issue and charged us $2,800…FOR AN ANAL GLAND ISSUE. Not only are the prices insane in there, the bed side manners and doctors are not sympathetic in any way. I have never written a review for anything in my life, I just felt like if I could help 1 family it would be worth it

Dr. Martinez and the VSEC team were kind, compassionate, and professional during the heartbreaking passing of our 14yo dog. No emergency vets were accepting pets in Ventura so we drove 30 min at night and were seen right away. Thank you all for making a horrible night as peaceful as it could’ve been.

This Vet saved my cats life- it was a holiday weekend and early in the morning. I took my cat there first thing in the morning and they took him back right away for breathing problems. They were very communicative and got him stable. He ended up needing to have a surgery and an endoscopy that they couldn't do but they gave me all the info on how to transfer him and got his records over to the other vet immediately. All of the staff was very warm and friendly. Highly recommend.

I wanted to give a massive shout out to VSEC. Last Thursday my wife went out to the patio and the cats will run outside when we open the door. Unknown to us a coyote was a the other side of the patio, and had attacked my cat Jimmy. Went my wife told me she saw a coyote. I went running out in sandals and no flashlight and found my poor kitty on the ground in shock unknown to the damage. I raced him to VSEC at 530 in the morning . He was given treatment right away. He was given oxygen , care, and a rabies shot. With in 48 hours he was good to go and is home with a care plan. He is lying cozy on the floor. Dr. Ferrel was amazing in helping us . And so was so many of the staff members. We owe the life of our cat to VSEC. And we are incredibly grateful for their quick efforts and actions to help restore Jimmy to a healthy state. The only caveat I’ll say is get pet insurance! It’s worth it. We now have had to cover kidney stones, another cat who bit onto a fishing hook, and now this. We will definitely be investing in pet insurance.
