Brought my dog here August 2,2026. They told me he had two fractures and recommended to put him down. I took my dog to another vet the next day and he had an infection. My dog is do8ng very well within one week.

Go somewhere else. This place used to be good. However Dean Bader needs to retire. He has lost his touch. The new guy is a joke! The ONLY redeeming thing here is the support staff. They are great! Always friendly, and hard working. I hope these ladies can find a good vet once this place shuts down. They deserve it. I will never bring another animal here.

I took my 13 year old dog here on Sunday for emergency care since he had an injury with his back right leg making him unable to walk after vomiting at 3am. The receptionist, assistants and tech were all very courteous and provided great service. My dog was given fluid iv, antibiotics and b12 to help him through his issues until he went back to his usual VCA vet. I'm leaving a 4 star review because the location does not have sufficient imaging and I paid for xrays that utilized ai for a poor diagnosis. After taking my dog to his VCA vet the next day they found no issues that dr.bader tried to diagnose such as arthritis in the hips, liver failure or spondylosis while also costing less for imaging. The blood panel work done at this location was great unlike the xrays showing increased white blood cell count from tearing his leg muscle. I would recommend this vet clinic for emergency care if you're in the area since Sunday availability is limited, but I would not reccomend imaging from this business.

Dr. Aguilar, walk in, saved the life of my very frail cat with a small bowel obstruction requiring emergency surgery. He showed us all scans and explained every aspect of the process. Dr. Bader treated 3 of our dogs with kennel cough. Dr. Aguilar has treated urgent issues like blood in stool accurately and conservatively, saving us THOUSANDS over other local emergency vets like Insight in EDH (where we waited hours ignored) and even providing reasonable advance quotes should his condition not improve. A female vet here TWICE saved another cat’s life that had nearly fatal bladder blockage. When I could not afford this service twice in one month they gave me a huge discount. Dr. Aguilar also took the time to accurately screen and diagnose my 16 year old dog with canine cognitive disfunction. Dr. Aguilar walked through the screening with us, checked bloodwork, and made sure there was nothing causing her pain before putting her on special food and medication that had her go from snapping at us daily, licking constantly to self-soothe, etc to jumping, playing, and enjoying her life again as the sweet girl we’ve always known. Same day, Dr. Bader has also removed plant pieces from our hunting dog’s eye. Dr. Aguilar also takes care of my service animal! I wish I could say these negative reviews for Dr. Aguilar in particular shock me, but there’s a huge problem with racism in El Dorado County. Cameron Park was a sundown community until the 80s, my Latino friends won’t raise their kids here because they fear how they’ll be treated, and at the Camerado Middle School graduation this year (2026) one of the Black eighth graders talked about being mocked for her hair texture at another local school in her speech. Like. Guys. If you want ANY vet to treat your pet without scans/tests/exams, that’s insane. If you want a vet that stops emergency care for someone else’s animal to treat your pet, that’s selfish and wild too. Every time we come here we’re seen same day when needed, treated kindly, pay very little (everything I’ve described here was less than 10k total over 10 years), feel truly listened to, and come home with a healthier pet. I wish I could leave a review for every animal of ours Shingle Springs VC has saved!
