I do not recommend coming here, nor signing up for Banfield wellness plans. Was told to bring my cat in at 7:15AM for a dental cleaning that should have been done by 12pm. By 1:20pm, having received no communication from the office, I called and was told "he's probably done, let me check", put on hold, then told "I was wrong, he's just going back now". They made my cat sit in a kennel for 6+ hours with no water and without any food for almost 24 hours, because they claimed they were "short staffed" and “corporate wouldn’t send anyone else”. When I asked, though, it turns out that the two staff responsible for performing my cat's procedure needed 6+ hours to do exactly *two* procedures before him (3.5 hours altogether), and that the other couple of hours where my cat was hungry, thirsty, and scared, was because they "had lunch". When I pointed out how ridiculous that was, the Practice Manager Edward admitted he had no idea what they were doing in the other hours, or why it took them so long to take care of my cat's appointment. A few words to the wise - the dental cleaning and standard bloodwork invoice would have been $1,200 (if you’re trying to gauge their service costs w/o signing up), but if you DO sign up for a plan, Banfield auto-renews it without warning you in advance, and if you cancel it early, they'll charge you for the entire remaining months' amounts. This includes if your pet dies (see number 9 of the wellness plan T&C's). Last but not least, I already emailed “banfieldcares”, and I still haven’t gotten a response back from anyone. Just know before you go, if you ever have a problem with services, you will likely never get it resolved, unless an indifferent shrug and “Like I said, I do apologize for the _____”, works for you and your pets. The company has some robot or random staff person that responds to negative business listing reviews as “Banfield Pet Hospital (Business Owner)”, but it’s the same response as they leave on their Yelp page as “Lisa R”, so just watch when they leave the same “please email, we’d love to escalate this for you” reply, and fail entirely to acknowledge that I already have emailed their “cares” team.

There's a high turnover of staff. It's highly unlikely that you'll see the same veterinarian for each visit. So be ready to recite your pets history each time. Even then there's only a 50/50 chance that they'll actually listen.

We are new clients of Banfield Santee. First visit was very pleasant with each member of the staff we saw. I have had to reschedule the future appointments and the person on the phone was very pleasant and answered all my questions.

I brought my cat in to have her teeth cleaned. I was asked if I wanted my cat to have anti-nausea medication after waking up and I agreed. I'm glad they asked, because I did not want my cat to be nauseous after the procedure. They told me the timeframe when I should come pick her up when finished. I was not told that she was going to have her blood pulled, and tested, and her internal organs checked. This is the first time I have ever had any of my cats' teeth cleaned, so I was unaware that anything else would be done. I came to pick her up at the informed time and all was well. I was charged $640.19 for the procedures. The bill also included the statement that if I was on an 'Essential Wellness level Optimum Wellness Plan' that I would have saved $15.12 off of the price for this procedure. That wasn't a very good sales pitch - how much would I have had to pay monthly to get $15.12 off of my $640 bill? I will not be paying for any insurance. Since then I have obtained the name/location of another veterinary office whom I have been told has better pricing. Being laid off, I need to watch how much money goes out the door. I will probably still bring my cat to PetSmart to have her nails trimmed, but I most likely will not bring her for any veterinary service in the future, due to the price.

Fantastic experience! Dr. Woolley was knowledgeable, compassionate, and took the time to explain everything clearly. Ariella, the nurse, was incredibly kind and made us feel at ease. The front desk staff member was also friendly and helpful, making the whole visit smooth from start to finish. Highly recommend!
