Usually, I go to Vetco San Marcos with my 2 puppys, and we get great service with Dr. Elizabeth Gibbs and her team. (She's awesome, and her team is amazing.).
However, last Friday, August 7th 2026, we had an appointment for our two dogs, at 1:30 pm. We got there a little early to get some stuff at Petco, but we were there at 1:30 pm. The staff was not the same that we usually have. That being said, we got a exam room to do the check-in arround 1:45 - 1:55 pm. Not a single appology for the wait or anything (specially when at 1:30 they come back from lunch). The appointment was to get our puppy's vaccinations, which normally it's a fast appointment and it takes 15 - 30 minutes. After we got to the exam room, we waited arroung 45 minutes for someone to show up. I litterally went arround the outside to find someone to ask what was going on, but 0 communication. After that hour, the vet tech came in, asked a couple questions, and left. Then we had another hour waiting in the room with the puppies. At that point again, I went looking for someone while my Wife stayed with the puppies in the room, but no one was near to give explanations on what was going on.
After that hour, Dr. Rebecca Shieh came into the room, and started giving instructions, while feeding some "treats" to the dogs (without asking us if she could do that, or if we had our own treats). She started complaining that the information given to us by our normal doctor (Dr. Gibbs) was incorrect and that we were doing bad habits with the puppies, among others. She even mentioned that we were crazy for having two Golden Retriever puppies. Again, after listening to all that blast from her, we had to wait another 30 minutes to get the puppies taken in for vaccines. (Usually, in normal clinics / hospitals, puppies would get their vaccines in front of the owners. Here they take them to a back room where the owners can't see anything, making it suspicious about what are they doing to the dogs, or if they're actually giving the vaccines, but that is a different story).
After those 30 minutes, the dogs came back and we had to wait another 45 minutes for the finalizing of the day, payment and everything. Again, 0 communication or anything.
After paying, I reminded them that I needed the pet records digitally, and the invoice, so I could submit the information to our insurance. Till this day, 8/11, that I'm writting the review, Vetco hasn't sent anything to us, and neither they have updated the pets vaccination records.
It has been the worst experience in my life in a veterinary, having to throw away an entire afternoon for vaccinations because of a clinic not having the right communication protocols, and forcing patients to wait just for the sake of it. In addition to that, having an incredibly unprofessional doctor such as "Dr. Shieh", that says what she "thinks" instead of professional based comments. After this visit, I definitely don't trust a word coming our of Rebecca Shieh's mouth, nor I can trust the communication protocols of Vetco. We litterally wasted a whole afternoon for nothing.
I hate giving bad reviews on places I go often, but unfortunately this got to the point that if I do not write a review, they won't do anything about it.
