I brought my puppy in for a simple scab. The vet initially stated it did not look like ringworm, but quickly pivoted to fear-mongering about worst-case scenarios to push for immediate testing. The vet lacked basic confidence, could not consistently identify the locations of the supposed infection, and had to ask the veterinary technician for help just to run the tests. They aggressively prescribed medication before receiving the results and continuously tried to upsell additional, unnecessary pills for "stress." After waiting three days with zero communication from the clinic, the PCR test came back definitively negative, yet they still instructed me to continue administering the unnecessary medication. This clinic prioritizes upselling and aggressive prescribing over competent, evidence-based veterinary care.

I am beyond disappointed and heartbroken by my experience with Petco Grooming. I trusted groomer Fabian with my two-year-old Maltipoo, who already struggles with severe anxiety, believing she would be cared for and safe until I picked her up. Instead, when we arrived to get her, the grooming salon was already closed. The store manager had to take my daughter to the back because there were no groomers there. My daughter had to remove our own puppy from the kennel herself. She told me the grooming area was completely dark, the lights were off, and my puppy was crying alone in her cage. To make matters worse, it was obvious her grooming had not even been completed properly. She was still damp and had not been fully dried. Her ears had not been groomed, her tail was severely matted as if it had simply been blow-dried without being brushed or combed, she still had eye discharge, and she even came home with dried feces still on her backside that had not been cleaned. After paying for professional grooming, I expected my puppy to come home clean, comfortable, and properly cared for—not looking like the job had been rushed or left unfinished. I cannot understand how a living animal could be forgotten and left behind. Pets are family, not objects to be left alone in a dark room after everyone has gone home. As someone who knows how anxious my puppy is, this was absolutely devastating. What made it even more heartbreaking was seeing her afterward. The rest of the day she wouldn’t nap like she normally does. Instead, she stayed close to me and kept staring at me as if she was afraid I was going to leave her again. Seeing that change in her behavior broke my heart, and I truly believe this experience was traumatic for her. This entire experience showed a complete lack of care, attention, and professionalism. I placed my trust in Petco and Fabian to care for my puppy, and that trust was completely broken. I sincerely hope Petco investigates this incident, holds those responsible accountable, and puts procedures in place to ensure that no animal is ever forgotten, left behind, or returned to its owner in this condition again. No pet deserves to experience that, and no owner should have to wonder whether their beloved companion was treated with the care they were promised.

Obedience training review: Amelia is the dog whisperer. We signed up our 80 pound cuddle missile and it was a life changer. This giant pittie was dragging me down the street, but thanks to Amelia, he was eventually heeling, as well as sitting, laying down, and staying for a whole minute - even with us out of sight. We also took the advanced class, which some of these skills were a part of, and you can go back and take it again for free if you need a refresher. Our classes were back in winter and Dutch is still the goodest boy. Bottom line: we were struggling hard and Amelia saved us. Can't recommend her enough.
