Disgusting scam of a place, and I'll never forget the vitriol of the woman who took a look at our cat. we luckily got in same day and were seen, but it was late in the night, and they were horribly unprofessional. they didn't tell us a single thing about the procedures that would be done, and our cat came in and out with random procedures, treatment, and medications given to him that we were only told after the fact. our cat was very heavily injured from a fall and had wounds everywhere, and the doctor gave us an incredibly inflated bill for a few medications that could be found anywhere else, and to close the wound. we couldn't afford it, so we asked if we could replace any medications or change the services in any way, and they said it would be impossible. when we told them we would go elsewhere to treat our cat, they pretended to think about it, disappeared into an office and came out with a bill that was magically less. It was still very high, and the doctor was very unprofessional, curt, and told us that would could just 'let your pet die if you don't want to pay the money', and 'pray that he gets better if you can't afford it'. When we asked if his injuries were life-threatening, she said 'what does it look like to you?' She even yelled at the management staff for trying to find ways to decrease our bill or change the payment plan, and told the staff that they were 'wasting time on people who weren't going to pay anyway'. I don't expect any doctor to coddle anyone's feelings, but beyond basic courtesy and professionalism, we should have been afforded at least answers to the questions that we were asking. I wouldn't have minded the disrespect if it meant that my cat would be cared for. I think anyone else would feel the same for their pet.
They wouldn't give us any treatment plan, wouldn't tell us any the differences between procedures or medications, and wouldn't tell us what would happen if we waited a little or otherwise. We were in the lobby looking up the terms on the estimated bills using our phones to try to figure out what was what. We eventually decided to pay because we didn't know or understand enough to feel safe waiting on treatment. When our cat came out, he still had open wounds, since we apparently didn't pay enough to close them. I don't know why that would be an option. We would have to clean the wound ourselves, but we weren't given further directions on how to do so, and upon calling afterwards, they were similarly unhelpful and told us that we should have been informed during our appointment.
Our cat could not properly heal with the treatment, so we took him to a different vet a few months later. The net vet was able to provide us with medication to last twice as long as Archvet did, and closed all of his wounds with a fourth of the price. I really want to reiterate this. A fourth of the price. We were quoted 2300 at Archvet, which was decreased down to 2120 after begging, and no wounds were closed. The other vet we visited was able to finish the procedure, close all the wounds, provide ample medication, and offer any upkeep for stitches for free, for 510. The stitches that they performed were internal, and would dissolve on their own, while we were told at Archvet that our cat could only be treated with stitches if we came back and paid for an additional visit to remove them afterwards. We have no pet insurance, and did not buy any in between vet visits. We would call the new vet often afterwards for guidance on caring for our cat and his wounds, and they were incredibly helpful.
I will never forget Archvet denying me information on whether or not my cat was going to die. They couldn't even tell me that much. If you're able to at all, I can't stress enough to please, please go looking elsewhere to any other vet possible. Anywhere else is better than this.
