The wait for assistance can be long sometimes and most of the time there is only one cashier and if your lucky someone might open another cash register.

I'm writing this solely to Jules (the Petco grooming stylist), as well as to Petco corporate (hopefully this can be seen). I have been a loyal Petco customer for years and have never chosen another corporation, but it seems like the quality of employees has decreased. It also explains why I was able to book a last-minute grooming appointment on a weekend (usually it's very difficult to book a grooming appointment last minute on weekend) . Apparently, Jules was the only person working in grooming. I arrived at 2:25 PM, and there was no one at the front. I waited around 10–15 minutes for her to show up. I can't remember if she apologized, but when she started checking my dog for matting or skin issues, I offered to help hold my dog because it looked like she was having a hard time handling her. However, she insisted on doing it herself while giving off a very “Karen” vibe. I didn’t want to create an unpleasant scene, so I let her continue checking my dog. She then started saying my dog’s paw was irritated because she was pulling away from her touch. As I explained to her, my dog simply DOES NOT like people touching her paws. Then she immediately switched to saying the fur around her paw looked red and implied that I hadn’t cleaned it properly and that it may have become infected somehow. I stayed calm and told her that I clean my dog’s paws regularly using clean water and a kitchen towel. She then went silent and walked back to the counter, acting like she hadn’t assumed anything. Finally, after I checked in and signed the paperwork, she asked me to stay because she thought my dog was panting and barking excessively. I explained that my dog simply has a barking habit around other dogs and that we have never experienced any issues with anxiety or stress before. Mind you, I bathe my dog every one to two months, and every groomer we’ve had has complimented her on being easy to handle (aside from sometimes being loud). Later, she came back and asked me to take my dog home, claiming she couldn’t bathe her because she was “overheating,” which honestly came out of nowhere because my dog looked completely fine to me. It just seemed like she believed she knew dogs so well from experience that she was absolutely certain my dog was “suffering” from kennel stress. She later offered for me to either bring my dog back in two hours for a last-minute bath or come back another day, which I did not accept at all. She then brought my dog back to me and calmly said, “I’m doing what’s best for your dog.” Overall, it was provoking and disappointing to see a groomer make negative assumptions about a dog owner and give definitive statements without properly consulting or communicating. I also think she may be overworked and wanted to push the appointment away — maybe even because she assumed I was young and wouldn’t tip well. Anyway, Jules, if you see this, I just want you to know that I take very good care of my dog, and maybe it’s better for you to retire because you are incompatible with this job.:)
