  I brought my poodle to Petco on August 14 for a grooming appointment with stylist Jordan. At drop-off, Jordan informed me that my dog had significant matting and explained that he would do the best he could. I completely understood the situation and specifically discussed stopping or taking breaks when necessary, especially because my dog is anxious. I also paid for the VIP experience because I believed the additional attention and care would help make the grooming process safer and less stressful for her. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete OPPOSITE of what I expected. When I picked up my dog, I was extremely upset to discover that both of her ears were bleeding from cuts/scabs following the grooming, and her tail was also bleeding. I understand that dogs can move unexpectedly during grooming and that accidents can happen; however, given our conversation beforehand and the additional service I paid for because of her anxiety, I expected much greater care to be taken. What concerns me most is how my dog has behaved since the appointment. She has seemed incredibly distressed, has been hiding, and has not been acting like herself for days. It is heartbreaking to see her so affected by what should have been a routine grooming experience. I am extremely disappointed with the care she received and with the condition she was in when she was returned to me. Unfortunately, after this experience, I do not feel comfortable bringing my dog back to this location and will not be returning.

  First visit to this location and with Leah. I chose Leah based on great reviews I saw online and those reviews were accurate. Very warm, kind groomer and gave me options for my dogs first "summer cut". My dog Kai came out looking and feeling amazing and I really felt she was in great, caring hands during her session. I also REALLY liked the space only allows for one pet parent at a time for safety and I so appreciate that as my dog gets very barky with other dogs close to her so having that space for her alone when checking in and checking out makes the process a lot less stressful.

  Very disappointing that my puppy was not given a horror. This is the second time at Petco ( Poway, Clairemont Mesa) that I have pod $80 plus tip and the puppy was only given a shampoo primarily. I even paid extra for teeth cleaning but that was little effort made to do that. I understand puppies can be excited but you have to calm them down with a treat or have ways to hold them. Not ever going to Petco for grooming. The people are nice but they have to do the job we are paying for. Total waste of money.

  while the appointment was not bad, the issue is that they went ahead and made follow up appointments w/o even asking.

  I brought my dog in for her bath and nail clip. She was in and out within an hour. She smelled great and looked even better. Her coat was incredible shiny. Overall it was a very good experience for the both of us.
