I had a very disappointing experience at the Banfield Pet Hospital on 4th Street in Ontario.
I arrived with an appointment that I had scheduled online, only to be told by the front desk staff that there was no appointment in their system. The interaction was frustrating from the start because I felt like I wasn't being believed, despite having confirmation of my appointment.
What made the situation worse was the lack of customer service and communication. Instead of helping to resolve the issue or offering alternative options, the staff member was dismissive and unhelpful. While sitting in the lobby, I went online and noticed multiple available appointment times. I even booked another appointment for 30 minutes later, only to be told that appointment wasn't available either.
After a lengthy and confusing conversation, I was finally told there was a 4:30 PM appointment available or that I could leave my pet as a drop-off patient with no guarantee that they would be seen that day. The entire process felt disorganized and unnecessarily stressful.
The lack of friendliness, professionalism, and clear communication was shocking. Veterinary offices should be welcoming places where pet owners feel supported, especially when they are concerned about their pets. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
I would recommend choosing a different Banfield location if possible. There are locations with staff who communicate better, treat customers with respect, and genuinely seem to care about both pets and their owners. 😡

I would avoid this location. I scheduled an appointment for my dog, only to receive a call the day before informing me they could no longer accommodate him. The front desk blamed corporate and then explained that they did not have a veterinarian available who could assist us.
While I understand that scheduling issues can happen, it’s best to have all online scheduling blocked if vets are truly inaccessible. Unfortunately, this created a significant inconvenience, and have to travel an hour out to find another facility with availability.

I scheduled an in-room visit on 3.12.26 for my 10-year-old dog with a history of Cushing’s disease, struvite stones, significant food sensitivities, and an active skin rash.
Shortly before the appointment, a staff member suggested rescheduling due to the assigned veterinarian, but I chose to proceed. During the visit, the veterinarian did not introduce himself, did not ask the reason for the visit, and performed only a very brief exam before attempting to leave.
I requested help with nutrition, medication management, follow-up testing, and evaluation of a current rash. These concerns were not meaningfully addressed. The veterinarian left the room multiple times and did not provide a clear plan of care.
I was later told I would need to reschedule for a longer visit, despite being seen for less than 10 minutes. Basic items like confirming weight and examining the rash required repeated requests.
Prescriptions were eventually provided through staff after a wait, but I left without guidance for my dog’s active symptoms.
Overall, this visit lacked communication, thoroughness, and continuity of care.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would!
Front desk was extremely rude! Kept cutting me off! Tone deaf no sympathy for our pet or I.
Provider lacked communication and expected for us to pay a 1200 bill when he never addressed my pets problems with me left the room had the assistant give me a huge bill and did not explain what was going on or why my pet needed these services done! I would never ever bring one of my pets here!

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
• Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
