  I generally don’t write reviews but this experience was really upsetting. I found out about the “K-9 Padres” promotion by another shopper in the store who was nice enough to tell me about it. I looked it up online to see what the requirements were for the offer (which said to be a member & mention the promotion). I went up to the cashier, she wasn’t very nice, and was confusing me as I tried to get more information about the offer. You have to mention the SPECIFIC number of strikeouts. This was not mentioned at all online and she was impatient/rude. It was even worse to begin walking out of the store just to hear her complain to her coworkers about how annoyed she was about the offer. Extremely unprofessional.. at least wait until there weren’t any customers around.. just some advice.

  There was an amazing and quick visit. The staff and the Vet were very helpful and my pet was doing better after the meds. Thank you so much PetCo

  The whole place smells of corporate greed and despair, best reflected by the small mammals packed like sardines into their cages. — I had a very mixed experience with the staff during my visit to Petco. Why am I even writing this? I think because I’m so rattled from these exchanges. Exchange 1: The Phantom Support After not finding anyone on the floor in the aquatic area, I had to go track down a cashier at the front register to ask for assistance. There was no one in line behind me. He mumbled something about trying to see if maybe it was possible to find someone to help me. I went back and waited 10 minutes before realizing no one was coming. Exchange 2: The Superstar I managed to seek out a very caring employee. She was patient and considerate, helping me select the right fish for my setup and asking all the right questions. She was great. Exchange 3: The Register Tyrant Back at the register to purchase the fish, I was greeted by a checkout lady. She started the interaction by commanding another employee (I assume a subordinate) to tell my son to stop bouncing a dog tennis ball. The employee reluctantly proceeded to reprimand my child under the watchful eye of the Petco priestess at the register. Sensing the unnecessary tension of the moment, another customer remarked that as parents we often don’t hear children’s flutter. I nodded in solidarity. With my child properly subdued, the boorish cashier resumed my transaction. She demanded that I opt into the Petco Pets Rewards program in order to complete my goldfish purchase. While almost certain that this could not be a legal requirement, her demeanor and obvious need to fulfill a point-of-sale quota for the Petco Pets Rewards program was so aggressive that I surrendered, get me outta here!
