- LOLeo OrtegaJun 23, 20261.0I am extremely disappointed with the customer service and reimbursement process provided by Petco’s Vetco Clinics. My 7-pound Toy Poodle, Willy, received several vaccinations at a Vetco clinic on May 31, 2026. Shortly after receiving the vaccines, Willy became very ill. He stopped eating entirely, vomited multiple times, experienced several episodes of diarrhea—including one episode containing visible blood and dark red/black stool—and became noticeably lethargic and less playful than normal. There was even an episode where he appeared to choke or gasp for air while in the car. Prior to this visit, Willy had no history of vaccine reactions, no known drug allergies, had not traveled outside California, and had not consumed any new foods or treats. Due to the severity of his symptoms, I had to take Willy to an emergency veterinary hospital for evaluation and treatment. I provided Vetco with everything they requested, including the complete emergency hospital chart notes and itemized invoices. Vetco advertises that reimbursement assistance may be available for care visits related to vaccinations performed at their clinics. However, despite submitting all requested documentation and the symptoms occurring shortly after the vaccinations, Petco only offered reimbursement for approximately half of the emergency veterinary bill. As a pet owner, it was incredibly stressful watching my dog suffer while also dealing with a reimbursement process that did not meet my expectations. I found the customer service unsatisfactory and was disappointed by what I believe was a lack of commitment to fully supporting a customer whose pet required emergency care following a Vetco vaccination visit. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Vetco Clinics. Pet owners should carefully consider whether they are comfortable with the level of customer support and reimbursement assistance provided if complications arise after vaccination.
