  I’ve had Banfield for all of my pets. The puppy/ kitten packages are very convenient and make navigating the initial process of pet care simple. So I understand why people chose to come here. However, over the years I feel like they’ve gotten more corporate and really try to upsell to the point where it feels like they don’t have your pet’s best interest at heart and it feels like they would falsely claim diagnoses to recommend (push) medications to charge you for. For example, they pushed me to purchase $120 worth of ear cleaning medication for a swab I didn’t ask for when I took her to get her vaccine. They just randomly called and said “we want to do an ear swab. It’s in your package and she needs it” I told them she didn’t have signs of an infection and if they noticed anything and they said “no but it’s in the package” and they didn’t let me ask if I could use it later. So they did it and supposedly it came back positive- they wouldn’t even tell me what sort of infection or bacteria it was until I pushed them to look it up. I refused the medications initially and they started being short with me. I eventually caved and purchased them and took my pup to another vet for a second opinion. She did NOT have an ear infection. Her ears are something I check often because her breed is prone to them and she goes to the beach/ pool often. This is the last time I will be coming here. I got my golden retriever puppy on a package. She’s almost 6 months old, energetic, and just derpy. This clinic has called me many times or mentioned at pick- up how hyper she is. The doctor specifically has told me she’s too much and hard to handle- hence they tried to charge me $200+ for sedation meds so they can get blood work on her. My dog is not aggressive or dangerous. How do you work with cats and dogs yet a hyper puppy is too hard for you to handle??? Apparently the sedation is included in the spay package ONLY if she’s actually spayed. If she can’t be spayed due to her labs, they charge for it….. but they need the labs to do the spay or not… make it make sense. I agreed to it, because the other option was to not spay her and not get my money back for the package. The doctor calls back 4.5 hours later and says the blood work was normal and they can proceed with the spay and “they won’t charge me for the sedation this time” …. Ummm. What? She literally told me it was included if the surgery was doable. So what do you mean “this time”?? It’s unnecessary attitude. And like all “great” customer service corporations, she asked if I had any other questions and gave me attitude when I asked if I can have a calming medication for my pup at home and she said “why??? What’s that gona do for her???” . Like lady… YOURE the expert here, that’s why I’m asking a question. Simple as that. Lastly, I got the spay option. I’ve used spay and neuter options here in the past yet this time, they tried scaring me into buying medications I’ve never been offered before- all of a sudden before surgery they said “she’s young, does she have signs of being in heat? Or else it’ll be an extra $150” why wasn’t that mentioned before? They pushed a spay this early on months ago for this reason but now the date they chose might inconvenience them? Right before my dog goes into surgery? Again: can’t say no. So here I am writing this review because I’m tired of being upsold and dealing with hidden fees and I’m anxious that this interaction will cost me my puppy’s life somehow. I shouldn’t feel that way when I drop her off for care, a vet, clinic, doctor should make patients and their families feel comfortable. They always act like you’re wasting their time for coming to your appointment here. I’m guessing they only know how to operate on a robotic corporate module level, so anything that interferes with that vibe is just too much for them. This place is cold, negative, and many of the doctors always seem like they hate their job here. I want to specify that the front desk and most nurses are always kind and helpful.

  I have had such a difficult time with finding the right vet for my dog, she is reactive and has been terrified of the vet for her entire life, which has made it impossible for her to have a simple wellness check. The staff here were so kind and understanding of our situation( i have not had that experience in the past with other vets), they were patient with us, and I never once felt like they were judging my dog because of her breed. My dog actually got onto the scale and sat down on it for the first time without any issues, I have never been able to get her weight in the past because she was afraid of the scale. I was so proud of her. I saw this as a step in the right direction and I am feeling relieved because now I can finally get my dog the medical care she needs- I finally have peace of mind and a huge weight off my shoulders and my dog will have a better quality of life now. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ❤️🐾🐶

  Absolutely love the staff here! They were so kind and informational. They made my dog Remi feel at home.
