  On August 14, my son rushed our dog to Folsom Veterinary Hospital after he had ingested cat litter and began having difficulty breathing. We have confirmation that my son entered the clinic with our dog at approximately 3:57 p.m. The clinic's posted business hours that day were until 6:00 p.m. Our dog was visibly having difficulty breathing and repeatedly trying to expel something from his mouth/throat. The staff at the front desk saw him and were informed of what was happening. My son was told that the veterinarian was leaving and that he should take our dog to an emergency veterinary hospital instead. No veterinarian examined our dog, and no medical assessment or triage was performed before he was sent elsewhere. My son immediately drove to VEG ER for Pets, where our dog received emergency treatment, including induced vomiting. Fortunately, after receiving treatment, he was able to breathe normally again. I understand that a general veterinary clinic may not be equipped to provide the same level of emergency care as a dedicated emergency hospital. However, I am deeply concerned that a dog visibly struggling to breathe was not even assessed before being sent elsewhere — especially when he arrived more than two hours before the clinic's posted closing time. I am sharing our experience so other pet owners are aware of what happened and can make an informed decision about where to seek care in an urgent situation.

  Great first impression. Took our new puppy in to establish care and had a great experience. Clean facility, friendly staff and the vet was so thorough and kind. Did not rush us, explained all our options and the price was reasonable. We have two older dogs and we will be transferring care as well.
